The purpose of the position is to work in a production area using machines to bend rebar to customer specifications in the fabrication shop while adhering to CMC's safety policies and procedures.

PERFORMS SUCH TYPICAL DISTINGUISHING DUTIES AS:
Determines methods and sequence of operations, makes complete layouts from complex sample parts and assemblies, mocked-up welded tubing assemblies, ship developed mock-up wires or blueprints, and fabricates developmental tubes such as master tube templates, sample tubes, and thin wall, large diameter, developmental tubes where bend data are not available and required tooling is inadequate or not provided, where it is required to utilize a complete knowledge of the high temperature and cold forming characteristics of various sizes and alloys and the setup and operation of various sizes of tube bending machines, both conventional and numerically controlled; develops and records machine setup, rotation and bend data; checks tubing in ship to detect errors and verifies proper fit and correct dimensions; develops written information and sample parts required by tooling or other personnel to fabricate project tools; incorporates changes in development tubing as required.
Determines methods and sequence of operation, makes measurements from master shapes and/or inputs dimensional information from drawings, sketches and other similar information to develop data for reproducing or inspecting bent tube configurations by utilizing a computerized measuring device and accessory equipment to develop and record degree, rotation and other similar data, furnishes setup parameters and numerically controlled tapes required for setup and numerically controlled tube bending machines to produce developmental and production tubes where bend data information is inadequate or not provided, trial and error methods must be employed, and coordinated dimensions and tolerances must be maintained, exercising a complete knowledge of the bending characteristics of various metals and alloys, of bend data development methods, and of all machine, equipment and processing functions within a tube fabrication center.
Performs rework to the same level of difficulty of the operations described above.
May require certifications.
Must demonstrate skills equivalent to Blueprint Reading II and Shop Trigonometry.
Must possess a minimum of three years of tube bending/tube finishing experience.
Makes complete setup on various types of power and manually-operated machines (hot and cold mandrel) to utilize all functions of these machines to their fullest capacity; bends all types of tubing including thin wall, employing flex mandrels and wiper dies.
Develops bend data information for pneumatically-hydraulically actuated, or manually-controlled tube bending machines, using mock-up wires or tubes, as required.
Works with other authorized personnel as required in installing, removing, or checking tubing in mockup or production ships to resolve tubing fabrication -- installation discrepancies, and/or in obtaining bend data information.
Operates hand and power sanders, buffers and saws as required.
Improvises tooling, machine accessories and shop aids as required.
Makes complete layouts and block table setups of bend tube shapes as required.

Tube Bender - Data Process Set Up Mechanic
This occupation covers setting up and operating tube data center equipment to measure bent tube shapes, tube fixtures and solid rod master templates and to produce measurement printouts and punched tapes for use on manual and automatic bending machines. It also includes the set up and operation of manual, power-operated mandrel, automatic tape controlled, and computerized numerical controlled (CNC) tube bending machines to fabricate production tubing from bend data card, tubing detail or assembly blueprints and library mock-up tubes developed by mock-up personnel.
Knowledge and Ability Required:
Complete knowledge of the bending characteristics of various metals and alloys, ability to derive and apply bend data and to operate all machines, equipment, and processing functions within a tube fabrication center. Ability to work cooperatively with development and other authorized personnel in resolving tubing/bend data problems.
To use complex assembly and detail blueprints and ship-developed mock-up tubes to extract relationship of bends to other bends and the direction of the rotations. To use arithmetic including decimals and fractions and solve simple specified formulae.
Makes measurements from master and/or inputs tube data dimensional information from drawings and engineering sketches to develop data for reproducing or checking bent tube configurations by utilizing tube data center equipment.
Positions master shape on measuring table in a free position and clamps to prevent movement and allow accessibility to areas to be measured. Selects appropriate measuring probe; resets measuring system, as required; utilizes applicable program, data, edit, and optional modes necessary to input, retrieve, review, change, and alter absolute, incremental and compensated information; changes to applicable mode and obtains print-out deviations for checking purposes.
Utilizes all operational codes and operates keyboard, tape punch reader, and measuring probe in accordance with applicable procedures; prepares repunched control tapes to incorporate changes and correct errors.
Sets up and operates manual and power-operated mandrel type binders in fabricating production tubing of various wall thicknesses from bend data cards to produce tubing to applicable specifications.
Sets up and operates automatic tape and CNC tube bending machines to make new and experimental tubes requiring development of bend data from sample or library tubes or blueprints, determination of operation sequences, preparation of control tapes, and determination of percentage and constant ratios. Reworks control tapes to incorporate changes and correct errors in dimension, degrees, and rotation values. Operates automatic tube bending machines manually when required.

A candidate is required to have the following minimum level of experience and/or training:
2-5 years experience operating manual and CNC tube benders machines designed for the manufacturing of thin aircraft tubing.
Experience should include:
1.Producing and programming bent tube configurations using CNC tube bending machines utilizing drawings, XYZ data, LRA's (Length Rotation Angle), and tangent points.

- Minimum of 3 month Hand Therapy internship
Current Licensure by state of Minnesota for Occupational Therapist or temporary license in the state of Minnesota or
Current licensure by state of Minnesota for Physical Therapist or temporary license in the state of Minnesota
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy
- 2+ years
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)
- Current Licensure by National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
