Operate, maintain and ensure productivity from the machines (M/C) as per process chart.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedulesmay be subject to change in order to meet company needs and business requirements.

Setup and maintenance of Plasma torch to automatically cut pipes so as not to stop the mill from smooth operation.
Monitor the coil joint, marked it and cut it in semi auto mode.
Monitor and check the pipe cutting length.
Operator shall ensure availability of consumables and spares.
Keep plasma torch and slide free of water and slag by cleaning frequently during your shift.
Transfer the pipe safely.
Each pipe needs diameter measurement at three places, and record the size found in the log book.
Any abnormality in diameter immediately needs reported to the Forming Supervisor and the Mill operator.
Operate and maintain pipe stencil machine.
Other duties as assigned by Forming Supervisor.
Follow safe work practices Edge Mill Operator Check the machine and side guide at the start of shift.
If any abnormal condition is found then inform to supervisor promptly and mention in the log book.
Check, read, and understand the Work Instructions for the current production order and ensure it is followed.
Fill out log book for shift following Work Instructions.
Get the coil numbers sequentially from the De-coiler log book and log coil number into Edge Milling log book.
Visually and dimensionally inspect the coil joint before it comes to the machine.
Ensure milling quality and dimensional requirements are met as per welding Procedure Specification (WPS). Check the coil visually for Inside Diameter (ID) scratching during operation.
Make sure chip, water or oil contamination is not going with coil if so then clean it.
Give feedback to the De-coiler Operator and the Gap Control operator so that real-time adjustments can be made by each operator as needed.
In continuous operation, if find any abnormal, malfunction stop the machine immediately, check machine alarm and inform the supervisor promptly.
Ensure that the Inserts rotation (for cost-effective use) is done as per schedule and procedure.o Coordinate cutter changing with supervisor.
Continuously monitor edge milling operation, in case of abnormality observed take corrective and preventive action.
Make spare milling cutter ready for the next cutter change.
Daily inspection of cutting heads and cutting head inserts for any damage, that is found should be reported to supervisor and recorded in log book.
Required Competencies: Computer skills to learn the Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing (SAP)system.
Basic computer skills or aptitude for the same or preferred position.

Verifies proper edging parameters and shape. Edges lenses down to the proper size using a computerized roughing/milling machine (edger). Prioritize tray processing flow as dictated by tray color/priority sticker.
Select appropriate job number for processing.
Ability to properly turn on main power, initialize edger startups, perform reboots and recovers from edger/robot errors.
Validate shape display to job in process.
Edge lenses to correct size, bevel location and applies a safety bevel and mount lenses into frame.
Accurately place an appropriate cosmetically acceptable pin bevel on lens.
Accurately place the grove for various lens designs, determine proper blade depth and utilize V-bevel to adjust size or shape of a lens.
Properly identify if slippage has occurred during the edging process.
Test and validate axis, size and bevel placement.

A ship fitter contributes to all structural phases of a ship's hull construction which may include fitting, fabricating, assembly and alignment of a ship's structure.
Key Responsibilities & Functional Knowledge
This list is representative of the key areas of responsibility and functional knowledge required of a first class ship fitter in the Plate shop. A first class mechanic must demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the skills, functional knowledge and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility.
Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them independently and teach others how to complete the tasks. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. A first class mechanic also is expected to strategize independently and problem-solve as appropriate.

Safety Bevel – Roll edges on bevel wheel to eliminate sharpness.
Wash – After loading wash racks, place in ultrasonic for 1 minute, quick rinse, then final rinse.
Insert Lens into Frames – Metal Frame : remove screw, insert lens, replace screw. Zyle Frame: heat frame to expand and insert lens.
Inspection – Check lens for defects, pits, scars. Place lens in topcon. Check for correct power, axis, prism, etc.
Hand Bevel – Edge lens down by hand to reduce size. Take out starts and chips, roll edges.
Safety Stamp – Place lens on appropriate stamp and push down.
Sort Trays – Sort trays for appropriate areas at edging, deblocking, beveling, tinting and insertion
Tint – Place lens in lens holder and tint to specified color.
