It will exist to serve the cycling community at Pitt and in Oakland. Shop functions include bicycle repairs, workshops, programming, and general community support. Students applying for the Bicycle Co-op Attendant position do not necessarily need to know how to service and repair bicycles but must be willing to learn and have an interest in cycling and customer service.
The Bicycle Co-op Attendant must be willing to commit to the position for at least one year. Bike Mechanic position requires standing up to 8 hours per shift as well as bending, leaning and kneeling on a regular basis. Applicant must be able to lift up to 60 pounds in order to perform job functions. Applicant must be able to work in an environment where the climate can change frequently and be able to handle stressful situations. The job description is not meant to be all-inclusive. It is understood that the employee will also perform other reasonable related business duties if requested by the store manager including knowledge of all products and sales. Our shop is closed on Mondays so your workweek will be Tuesday thru Saturday.

NW Assembly Services is looking for a BICYCLE, BARBECUE and WHEELBARROW ASSEMBLER 4 to 5 days a week for this season at local area retail stores. Training is at $13 per hour for up to a week. Pay then goes to a piecework system. The average assembly technician can make anywhere from $10 to $25 per hour depending upon their production. As you learn the products and systems you will gain speed and your pay will go up accordingly.

Requires both good oral presentation skills as well as writing skills and will require working with elected officials, agency representatives, design consultants, advocacy groups, and the general public on bicycle and pedestrian related issues. Requires attendance and participation at public meetings, public hearings, and workshops, as well as other local and regional meetings and events. Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban, regional or transportation planning, or a closely related field; plus two years of experience related to transportation planning.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Experience in two or more of the following areas: performing transportation planning for roadway and multimodal projects, traffic engineering, and/or transportation design, preferably related to bicycle and pedestrian transportation.
