Perfect Binder Operator
The Perfect Binder Operator is responsible for running 2 perfect binders at the same time while loading 1 cover feeder. The candidate must have knowledge and experience with the proper set-up and operation of Wohlenberg Perfect Binder (20 and 24 pocket) or similar equipment in accordance with established operating procedures for Commercial print jobs. The individual will operate the equipment making the necessary adjustments and customization of the mechanics on the binder to meet customer’s requirements. Operates within company productivity and quality goals. Can approve own work and train support staff. Shift for this position will be 7am- 7pm and will include days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Set up, maintain both perfect binders and 3 knives.

- Training of other colleagues in the department in all aspects of binder operation, providing expertise, coaching and guidance on an ongoing basis.
- Runs equipment at the required speeds while maintaining quality, waste and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- General knowledge of the binder equipment preferably Wohlenberg Perfect Binder (20 and 24 pocket) experience
- Thorough knowledge of the setup, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations to perform the full range of standard and specialized binding to complete a combined finishing product.
- Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing finishing requirements; independently makes decisions on the type of equipment to be used.
- Willingness to learn and be trained on any new folding equipment and technology.
- Ability to lift 50 Lbs.
- Ability to transfer packed cases from taping conveyor to skids.
- Must be able to move quickly up and down the machine to troubleshoot and make fixes to maintain run speed.
- Oversee and direct additional helpers that are on the binding machines.
- Ability to work 12-hour shift (7 a.m.- 7 p.m.) including days, nights, evenings and weekends as needed.
- Physical ability to stand for 12 hours a day or more.
- Physical ability to lift and move products of up to 40 lbs. on a consistent basis throughout the course of the entire shift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 3 to 5 years of perfect binder set up and operation in a high quality, high volume environment required.
- Must be able to work safely, communicate well, and produce good quality work at an efficient pace.
- Mechanical and machining aptitude.
- Possess a high expectation for quality and ability to operate with minimal waste.
This job is primarily performed in a fast paced production environment. The environment can be stressful in order to meet deadlines and requires physical ability. There is also a large amount of squatting, bending and lifting required. In the summer months the warehouse, although air conditioned, will be hot and humid. Because of the machinery the warehouse is also quite noisy and requires hearing protection at all times. During our peak season, our employees are also required to work a considerable amount of overtime.

Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and have the responsibility to troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all mechanical equipment in a plant that operates on a 24 hour / 7 day schedule. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain all plant mechanical equipment. Including, pumps (centrifugal, positive displacement, air driven diaphragm, reciprocating, etc.) large top mounted agitators of up to 150 hp, fans blowers, mechanical seals, (Single, double, lip, etc.) and sealing devices (packing, etc.) associated with this equipment. Install and modify existing and new piping systems and lines, including vessels, filters, exchangers, (assembly and disassembly) and equipment setting and alignment. Structural, construction, painting, concrete, insulation and light sheet metal work, etc.
- Layouts, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems for chemical, steam, water and thermal fluid systems. Selects type and size of pipe and related materials, such as supports and hangers according to specifications. Cuts pipe using saws, pipe cutter and cutting torch. Threads pipe using pipe threading machine. Welds components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
- Become familiar with relevant maintenance department SOP’s. Learn the plant processes and hazards associated with them. Be safety conscious and follow the plant safety policies and procedures (e.g. fall protection, confined space). Become familiar with the proper PPE task requirements and learn the mechanics role in the Emergency Response Plan.
- Actively participate in near miss reporting, incident investigations, and safety housekeeping audits.
- Complete and initiate the proper documentation of work orders in the SAP system.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Physical Abilities: 1. Pass a routine physical examination and drug test. 2. Lift and control a minimum of 50-pound load from floor level to standing position. 3. Regularly walk, bend, squat, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds. 4. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments year round. 5. Ability to wear appropriate PPE including full face respirator, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat etc.
Equipment Skills: 1. Proficient in welding processes – stick and tig. 2. Operate power tools such as a drill press, band saw, grinders, etc. 3. Operate torches, welders, cutters,side grinders, etc. 4. Operate plant vehicles, such as forklift, bobcat, light duty dump truck, etc. 5. Operate basic hand tools, measurement and test equipment. 5. Proficiency with computer and Microsoft products.
Personal Skills: 1. Self motivated, quality and safety conscious individual. 2. Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written, and read and follow instructions with minimal supervision. 3. Excellent interpersonal skills and the willingness to learn from and train others.
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent
- Three or more years’ maintenance experience in an industrial or chemical facility is preferred
- Desired Certification and proficiency: Welding – TIG 6G GTAW and Stick 6G SMAW; Gear pump rebuilding, installment and alignment.
