Steel Craft Technologies is looking for applicants to become CNC Burner Operators. Applicants must be able to read a tape measure and prints, and should be self motivated team players.
Job DescriptionKloeckner Metals - Amarillo, TX branch currently has an opening for Burner Operators
Processes quality products safely and efficiently by setting up, operating and performing simple programming of a Burner Operator.
Job Functions: * Identify paperwork / work order documents make a mental map of how each order will fit on table, group orders by thickness; prioritize according to supervisor’s input, 2 nd runs, customer will calls or other requirements.
Locate material on floor, locate material in staging, home location or plate drop racks, select / hook up proper material handling equipment: chains assembly with plate hooks, or plate dog, magnet, spreader bar, find and place dunnage on table as needed
Select proper tips for burner torch depending on material to be cut and desired edge.
Program CNC computer per work order instructions, clean scrap slag off of finished parts as they are cut, stack parts on skid or place in 3 yd hopper for transporting to tumbler slag cleaning machine. After cleaning all slag on both sides, place parts on skid for packaging, noting customer unloading requirements – max skids, etc. Shrink wrap as needed, band material with steel banding, label skid with order number, customer name, PO number if required. Remove all scrap from table, place in dumpster, and place finished order in staging area as required. Associated hazards / physical requirements: * All burner operators and parts cleaners are required to lift up to 50 lbs, climbing up and down on the burning table and forklifts.
Stepping in and around layouts, lifting boards / dunnage onto table, bending and lifting to stack small pieces / bags (finished goods) off table, in and out of tumbler and onto skids.
Changing fork lift propane tanks – as needed.

REQUIRED Essential Duties and
Obtain and prioritize work order assignments. Load and unload tables, check that correct material type/grade has been pulled for work order.
Burn material. Pull parts to verify dimensions and make adjustments as necessary. Clock in on all applicable work order sequences.
Clean and perform routine operator maintenance tasks on machines as necessary. Clean work area. Perform weekly safety inspection on machines.
Check gears, wheel bearings and hoses, monthly. Monitor condition of burn tips, notify supervisor when replacements need to be ordered. Candidates must pass drug screen and background check.

Set up and operation includes adjustment and/or replacement of expendable tooling, guides, jigs, and fixtures. To qualify for consideration, an applicant must possess the following skills. Possession of these skills is a prerequisite for employment.
Minimum of 2 years' experience operating an oxy-fuel burner machine.
Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints and geometric tolerances.
Organize parts and prepare them for the next process.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as: hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder, bander.
Ability to use measuring tools such as: tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract in fractions and decimals.
Must be able to concentrate and maintain productivity in high pressure situations.
Must be able to work without close supervision.

The ability to operate any piece of metal working equipment.

Under general supervision, installs manufactured and purchased parts, equipment and controls on burners and boilers, including the tack welding of accessory and auxilliary supports. Makes inter-connections between burners, accessory and controls, including piping, tubing and bending conduit. Performs wiring between burner, control panel and controls in accordance with a diagram. Installs pressure and temperature gauges, gas piping, gas valves and regulators on boilers. Uses electric arc welding equipment, welds brackets on to boiler. Must have a strong electrical/wiring background, electrical wiring is 75% of the time. Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, work orders and schematics. This position works inside the plant. Union environment. Position is 1st shift 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, OT as needed, should be flexible to work 3rd shift if the position goes 3rd shift.
