Blaster - Cave City KY
Ensure safe, reliable and quality blasting service through the effective design and appropriate use of explosives to minimize losses related to blasting events on civil construction and transmission . Lead blast crews in the design, preparation and detonation of planned explosive related blasts with correct, safe, and effective use of explosives in alignment with customer's requirements at locations serviced by DNNA.
Develop blast designs for ditch, right of way, and bore-pits, for standard and vibration sensitive applications.
Merge and analyze all blasting specifications and apply most stringent specification to design.
Customize blast plan submittals and re-submittals as needed to meet customer, regulatory and owner specifications throughout the project.
Manage Blast design and plan negotiation with owners as needed. Collaborate with industry manager to formulate strategy to advocate for safe and profitable plans, for DN and customer's interest.
Deliver blast optimization, quantification and communication to manager and customer. Assist in financial analysis.
Manage ongoing communication with job owners, third party inspectors, seismic monitoring; Reinforce our brand of safe, high quality service by maintaining a consistent professional demeanor.
Perform daily blasting risk assessment and work plan communicated to contractor crews.
Co-manage customer labor crews. Satisfy customer safety requirements as well as DN's ongoing risk assessment, tail gate safety and take 5 participation.
Facilitate and manage product issue/ complaint trouble shooting. Communication to tech team if necessary.
Must commit to pipeline projects from start to finish. Jobs could last several months and have very long working hours sometimes 12 hours / day 7 days per week.
Blasting SOP to maintain safe working conditions on and near the blast site to assure that all blast crew members and others follow all safety and regulatory procedures to ensure a safe and successful planned blast event.
Manage customer progress reporting
Facilitating communication between parties for customer invoicing
Communication with magazine site management to assist ongoing inventory management and forecasting
Communication with magazine site regarding changes, challenges, job scheduling etc.
Participation in daily customer foreman's meetings. Represent Dyn Nobel and customer's best interests, focus on safety and profitability.
Work closely with customer foreman, superintendent, safety foreman, and engineer to plan, partner and engage specific challenges to the job. General messaging is a given.
Pre- job safety presentation as needed to the rock crew and other crews designated by the customer's safety representation.
General record keeping of all blasting related information from the project.
Off Duty Projects:
Cold calls/ sales calling to pipeline and construction customers.
Assist Digishot Team with training in seismic and conventional blasting applications.
Cross train in our underground construction segments.
Assist Applied Technologies Team with blaster audits
Decision Making Authority: Make decisions of a low to moderate degree of complexity.
Major Challenges: Managing Customer expectations with late production schedules and deliveries.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor degree is applicable field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years related explosives industry work experience.
Minimum of 2 years experience in explosives or geo-technical related field.
Must satisfy the requirements for a "Possessor of Explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Acquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by federal, state and county entities (e.g. blaster licenses)
Current MSHA certification for Part 46 and 48.
More training may be necessary as prescribed by state or local law.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements (Required in USA)
Working conditions are primarily outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate. Must be able to commit and work job sites for 12 hours per day, 7 days per week. Project timelines may last up to 3-9 months away from home. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Requires frequent exposure to long distance driving, road hazards, hazardous and explosive materials, and machinery at work sites (mines, construction, manufacturing plants). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand, squat, lift, and use hands with fine dexterity for wiring, blast hook-up, instrumentation tie-in, etc. May require occasional lifting of 60 lbs (30 kg).
Ability to physically travel and get in and out of trucks in remote locations and wear protective equipment where required.

External Job Description
This EXPERIENCED BLASTER will learn our process of surface preparation by operating blast equipment used to create a profile on a steel structure which will allow the coating treatment to adhere properly to the metal surfaces. The candidate will be trained in the use, care and safe operation of blast equipment furnished by the company. Candidates must be able to learn and perform safely, blast operations in tanks and voids as well as working heights such as staging.scaffolding and lifting equipment (JLG and scissors lift equipment).
MUST have 1 year or more of Blast Experience. Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Ability to work at extreme heights and very confined spaces. Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop and climb on a daily basis. Ability to work in extreme temperature environments. Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs dictate.
MUST have 1 year or more Blast Experience.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
C7 Blast Certification a plus.

Performspre-shift and post-shift safety inspection and completes daily equipmentreports. Maintains good housekeepingpractices on equipment and at powder magazines. Reports unsafe mechanical conditions to supervisor. Travel to other facilities maybe required.

Current State Blasting License
High School Diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.

Knowledge of mine drilling and blasting standards, production techniques and equipment, safety and environmental regulations (MSHA, ATF and OSHA).

Calgon Carbon Corporation is looking for a Blaster to join its Equipment & Assembly Plant in Neville Island, Pennsylvania, USA.
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Group Leader, the Blaster will perform tasks as necessary in the fabrication and maintenance of Calgon Carbon Corporation products and equipment. The worker will perform all assigned duties in compliance with all company and safety policies and procedures.
Abrasive blasts interior and exterior of tanks and piping systems to achieve the specified SSPC surface cleanliness and surface profile. Assists sprayers as required.
Inspects interior and exterior lining and coating systems on purchased and produced equipment. Coatings include but are not limited to: Plasite 4110, 4006, Ceilcote 242, epoxy, polyurethane-based coatings
Prepares equipment for painting and coating by cleaning, solvent wiping, taping and papering prior to painting. Mixes paint and linings in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Visually inspects own work for defects and noncompliance to specifications and makes necessary repairs.
Inspections will include both surface preparation and finished coatings. Surface preparation verification in accordance with SSPC for cleanliness and surface profile. Coating inspection will include dry film thickness gage use, holiday or spark testing. Complete inspection result documentation.
Ambient condition monitoring and reporting. Wet bulb and dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and surface temperature to ensure application requirement compliance.
Operate fork trucks and overhead cranes while moving equipment in and out of paint booth. Assist in other areas with various tasks as required.
High School/Trade School/GED is required.
Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years industrial laboring is required.
Valid PA drivers license is required
Ability to operate Hand Tools, Forklift, lift up to 70 lbs and climb ladders; Work in standing, kneeling or squatting position for an extended period; Work in confined spaces and at heights of up to 20'.

Following instructions to operate all blast equipment to remove scale, soot and dirt from heat-treated parts.
Inspect and maintain all blasting equipment (i.e. routinely check amperage, clean screens, check and maintain proper shot level, and general operation of the equipment.).
Inspect work pieces for visual dirt or blemishes. Position part for blasting process.
Monitor blasting process to ensure product is clean and undamaged.
Assure proper packaging of the materials to prevent damage during shipping or handling. When necessary separate parts with dividers.
Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork.
Operate forklift truck and electric hoist in order to transport and move products.
Maintain inventory of work supplies. Notify supervisor when supplies are needed.
Make suggestions regarding process improvement.
Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
Comply with all quality, safety,5S and Performance Excellence standards and work rules and regulations.
Some industrial experience desired.
