Primary duties include:
This position is responsible for all aspects of helping lead blaster.
The successful candidate will have the responsibility of ensuring safe and efficient blasting operations that conforms to all applicable Federal and State requirements.
The job requires working closely with Plant Managers, Quarry Supervisors, Drillers, and Vulcan Blasting Managers as well as outside entities including vendors and regulatory agencies.
The position requires following, promoting, and making suggestions regarding company drilling and blasting standards.
The Blasters Helper will be responsible to assist lead Blaster Loading holes and charging rounds in a underground mining operation.
The candidate will be provided hands on technical training and expertise related to drilling and blasting activities.
This position is a 2nd shift position in a underground limestone mine.
Ability to understand, interpret, and comply with all Federal, including MSHA, ATF, etc., and State regulations regarding drilling, blasting, and general safety regulations.
Ability to learn shot layouts and design shots to optimize the production process while maintaining company standards and compliance with any applicable regulatory requirements.
Adjust standard patterns for optimization by addressing burden, spacing, angles, diameter, depths, etc. in a safe and appropriate design.
Able to read and understand mine maps.
Work with drillers to ensure shots are drilled according to design specifications.
Work with lead blaster during the shot loading process. Ensure that Vulcan blasting standards are followed and the shot is loaded according to the planned design.
Complies with all Federal and State regulations and protocols for safety, blasting agent on-site inventory or storage and blasting.
Work with plant management and blasting vendor to ensure delivery of the correct and necessary amount of blasting agents.
Performs administrative duties related to the blasting program such as computer generated shot reports, pre-charging survey and post-blast surveys.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain necessary state blasting license. Ability to obtain and maintain ATF employee possessor status.

What you'll get to do:
Work in an underground environment

Who we are looking for:

Blaster Painter Helper
Job Title: Â Blaster/Painter

Location: Â Â Midland, TX
A successful candidate will exhibit characteristics that support the following:
Implementing Vision and Values
Perform blasting & painting functions in areas as scheduled by the coating foreman.
Sandblast and paint pipe equipment.
Provide quality workmanship according to specifications free of sags, runs, holidays and overspray.
Attend and participate in pre-job meetings.
Attend and participate in safety meetings.
Assist in job load-outs.
Mixing paint, cleaning paint pot & spray guns.
Performing maintenance and repairs on personal and company owned tools and equipment.
Shovel or pour specified grade abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper.
Assisting other departments as a rigger and/or helper when needed and/or as directed.
Maintain good housekeeping in the work area as well the living quarters and bathing facilities.
Mask specified areas to protect from abrading action.
Load parts from racks in enclosed rooms into tumbling barrels or cabinets.
Turn valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
Start equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface parts.
Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisor regarding painting.
Smooth and remove old paint from surfaces to prepare for new paint.
Select pre-mixed paint or mix required portions of pigment, oil, thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
Paint surfaces with brush, spray gun, or paint roller.
Erect scaffolding or set up ladders or spider to perform tasks above ground level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of two (2) years sandblasting and spray painting experience.
Valid driverâ€™s license.
Dependable transportation and phone (home or cell).
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing and able to work a 12-16 hour shift per day
Must be able to work without cell phone and/or internet communication with friends and family during normal working hours.
Must be able to work without tobacco interruptions until scheduled breaks and lunch times.
Must be able to work from swinging scaffolding.
Must be able to wear a dust mask and/or paint respirator.
Must be able to lift objects weighting up to 100 pounds, able to stand, climb, sit, squat, stretch, bend over and/or walk for long periods of time.
Must be clean shaven and exhibit good personal hygiene.
Man lift and forklift certified.
Have the ability, desire and attitude to work as a team member.
Be familiar and in compliance with company policies, safety practices, processes & procedures.
Must have a clear understanding of how to navigate and decipher the contents of an MSDS book.
Adapt to sudden changes concerning project work scopes, while under pressure, provoked by time-constraints and/or inclement weather.

Seated or standing, operates sand or shot blasting equipment to process a variety of metal parts or articles for the removal of scale, flux corrosion, dirt, and other foreign matter. Selects the proper abrasive, adjusts and sets air pressure and equipment as required.
Loads and unloads tumbler and table. Maintains adequate supply of abrasive and keeps equipment in an orderly condition.

Loader/ Blaster B
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.
Weigh and/or count pieces; record.
Operate power and hand lift trucks to load, unload and transport material in and out of process areas. Use cranes to lower and raise product in/out of furnace baskets.
Position parts for processing under direction and/or using shop orders or work instructions.
Assist with applying localizing paint to product under supervision
Following instructions to operate all blast equipment to remove scale, soot and dirt from heat-treated parts.
Inspect and maintain all blasting equipment (i.e. routinely check amperage, clean screens, check and maintain proper shot level, and general operation of the equipment.).
Inspect work pieces for visual dirt or blemishes. Position part for blasting process.
Monitor blasting process to ensure product is clean and undamaged.
Assure proper packaging of the materials to prevent damage during shipping or handling. When necessary separate parts with dividers.
Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork.
Operate forklift truck and electric hoist in order to transport and move products.
Maintain inventory of work supplies. Notify supervisor when supplies are needed.
Make suggestions regarding process improvement.
Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
Comply with all quality, safety,5S and Performance Excellence standards and work rules and regulations.
Some industrial experience desired. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to complete standard production documentation; ability to operate various equipment to include: cranes, hand or power lift trucks, and grit blast equipment; ability to pass forklift operator course and drive a forklift; and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Industrial Painter/Sand Blaster
PURPOSE OF POSITION : The Industrial Painter is responsible for inspecting, sand blasting and painting Flo bins.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing job functions
Detects faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notifies supervisors
Required to prep surfaces for paint processes including removing slag, rust, etc. which require use of a sandblaster
Must be comfortable sandblasting,
Must be comfortable wearing a supplied air hood while blasting.
Must be capable of operating spray-painting equip. and maintaining it.
Must be comfortable wearing a full-face respirator while painting.
Must have an eye for quality
