Lid Packer (2842-159)
Pay Rate: $14.02/hour + $0.40/hr. night shift differential
Schedule: Night Shift 7:00 P.M.-7:00 A.M. (either C or D shift)
Package lids per production schedule and specification sheet. Perform quality inspection for minor/critical defects.
Inspect lid fit according to quality check sheet. Maintain housekeeping and keep area organized and ready for incoming shift. Assist Lid Line Operators by rolling sheet and grinding scrap.
Label and number boxes when possible. In addition, complete other work as assigned by shift manager. All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging safety procedures and policies.
Packing Lids: Follow production schedule and specification sheet to determine sleeve and case count.
Pack correct amount of lids into sleeves. Tape sleeves and pack sleeves into correct case by lane. Place cases on conveyor belt. Ensure pack station is supplied with bags and tape.
Quality Control: Continuously inspect lids for minor and critical color and physical defects while packing.
Test lids from each row every 2 hours as indicated on Packer Quality Check Sheet. Scrap all lids outside specification and notify operators of defects. Perform inspection on quality holds as instructed by Supervisor
Grinding scrap/ Assist Operators: Grind barrels of scrap lids while machine is running.
During times when trim press is not running, assist operators by rolling sheet. Feed rolled sheet into assigned offline grinder. Grind up defective lids in same manner. Feed rolled sheet into trim press as needed.
Housekeeping/Cleaning: Keep area clean.
Keep all scrap and bags off floor and empty trashcans as necessary. Participate in cleaning machines when needed. Clean packing trays and document per HACCP procedure. Complete round sheet.
Labeling and numbering cases: Assist in labeling and numbering boxes during any extra time.
Un-jam pad locker: Execute proper IES of equipment; clear case(s) jammed in pad locker; change tape as needed.
Occasionally = 1-33% Frequently = 34-66% Continuously = 67-100%
Occasionally: Stooping, climbing, using ladders (staircase), kneeling, lifting and carrying (box bundles of approx. 20 lbs., lid cases of approx. 15 lbs.), reaching (all levels), pushing and pulling (scrap bins of approx. 30 lbs.)
Frequently: Walking (department wide), carrying (bundles of bags: approx. 20 – 30 lbs.)
Continuously: Standing at same pack station continuously (until rotate to new station – roughly every two hours; wooden platforms with rubber mats), working under time pressure and working rapidly for long periods (must keep up with machines.)
Other occasional physical tasks: Rolling sheets, grinding sheet/scrap lids, feed sheet into trim press.
Work Devices, Tools and Equipment:
Lids, box bundles, scrap bins, misc. housekeeping supplies, tape, cups, scrap grinder, cut knife, gloves, safety locks, required personal protective equipment (PPE), goggles when/as needed, and voluntary respirator dust mask.

Work requires continuous standing and the ability to work rapidly under time pressure. Skills required attention to detail. The ability to lift approximately 20lbs, carry approximately 20 -30 lbs., and push/pull 30lbs is required.
On-the-job training provided by designated trainer experienced Packer. Training period is approximately two weeks.
Supervision received from Shift Manager, Group Leader and trainer.

12 hour shifts, working alternately (36) and (48) hour weeks with four (18) minute breaks and one (20) minute lunch

POSITION: Folder/Gluer Catcher
SECOND SHIFT HOURS: Monday
Thursday 2:45 pm
11:00 pm, Friday 12:15 pm
7:15 pm; additional overtime or weekend hours as scheduled
Removing flat blanks from a skid or glued cartons from the delivery belt of a gluer and placing the product in corrugated cases. The carton or blank must be checked to ensure that company and/or customer quality standards are adhered to. The packer is also expected to assist the operator with make- readys and to keep the work area and machine clean and neat.
1.Ensure that correct cases are drawn from the warehouse and are available in sufficient quantities to allow uninterrupted production. When cases are returned to the warehouse, verify that the correct date and count are on the tag.
2.Verify count per case and ensure that cartons fit as specified on the job ticket. Verify that masters are labeled correctly.
3.Inspect cartons during the run and inform the operator of all quality defects, i.e. smeared or missing printing, poor adhesive application, cracked scores, improper folding of scores, offsetting in the delivery stack, unacceptable pre-break, etc.
4.Responsible for assisting the operator in achieving the highest possible productivity and quality, while minimizing waste.
5.Correctly fills out and turns in all required paperwork in a timely manner.
6.Works with the operator and the Gluer Adjuster to learn the duties of the operator so that they can fill in when the operator is not available.
QUALITY ASSURANCE DUTIES:
1.Consistently monitors glued cartons as they are packed and informs the operator of any quality defects.
2.Verifies at the start of the run and at the beginning of each shift that the correct packaging case, case count, and packing method, as specified on the job ticket, are being used.
3.Monitors cartons consistently for fiber tear and excess glue and informs operator of any problems.
4.Follow all of WS Packaging Group's rules for the Food Safe Product Program.
SAFETY AND EXPOSURE TO POSSIBLE HAZARDS:
1.Responsible for maintaining correct operation of all safety guards and equipment on assigned machine, and for notifying management of any safety hazards.
2.Maintain assigned machine and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
3.Assure that all finishing supplies, chemicals, etc. are used and stored according to established safety procedures.
4.Uses Company provided safety equipment as specified by company policy, supplier instructions and/or OSHA regulations.
Requires lifting of glued cartons in units (weighing 5-30 pounds) from waist level from a continuous moving belt and placing them in corrugated containers at approximately waist height, or occasionally stacking unitized loads on pallets from floor to shoulder height. This will require a twisting and/or reaching motion both when picking up the cartons and when placing them in the corrugated containers.
These actions will be repeated continuously during an 8-10 hour shift and occasional lifting of equipment into the machine (weights of 10-75 pounds). Twisting and bending will occasionally be required when assisting the operator in putting parts onto the machine during set-ups. Working with adhesives, solvents, and other chemicals and supplies. Working in an environment with paper dust suspended in the air.

CDL Environemental Lab Packer
We are currently seeking a Environmental Specialist III - Field (Lab Pack) Chemist. In this role, the ESIII will travel daily to customer sites, including university, manufacturing, industrial and research customers.
The team member is responsible for characterizing both hazardous and non-hazardous waste material, segregating the material, and lab packing the material per DOT, EPA and TSDF requirements. This position is also responsible for the preparation of all manifests and required documentation to meet DOT, EPA, and state regulations.
CDL Class B with Haz endorsement

Provide lab pack services to technical customers. Identify, segregate, package and ship hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including some pharmaceutical waste.
Properly prepare manifests, land disposal restrictions and associated paperwork for proper transportation of waste materials over the road. Responsible for ensuring the safety of team members and compliance of services provided to the customer.
Perform other projects as required by customers, including inventory support, lab moves, on-site services, unknown characterization, high-hazard support, etc. Performs other related duties as required or requested.
This position may work completely independently on some jobs, but will often provide technical and work direction to less experienced team members.
This person is first and foremost a lab pack trained chemist capable of on-site waste characterization, packing and generation of all required documents that happens to drive a truck, but is not just a truck driver who only picks up hazardous waste.
Education and Experience Required (including certifications and/or software requirements for the position):
Education equivalent to Bachelor's Degree in the sciences or the equivalent in related work experience, one or more years of industry related experience as a lab pack technician preferred.
Must possess a valid driver's license Must be willing to get qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle rated at 26,001 pounds or greater (CDL B).
Demonstrates a general knowledge of EPA and DOT Regulations as it relates to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste. Some understanding of handling DEA controls is a plus.
Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including spreadsheets and word processing. Master the English language both verbal and written.
