Mix and blend wet/dry ingredients in accordance with product mix/batch sheet specifications.
Record all ingredient usage using location ERP system.
Collect pre-blend and final product samples as required. Perform all required batch analytical testing. Report any product deviations to the department supervisor.
Follow all allergen protocols.

Strong math skills.
Lift truck certification or the ability to obtain a lift truck certification (Powered Industrial Truck).
Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
Successful completion of drug screen and background check.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated work history.
Good attendance is a must.

Shift flexibility. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Our blend operators are assigned to a team in support of dairy operations. This can either be days, swing or night shift and weekends. Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.

The Spice Blender position exists to blend spices in an accurate and timely manner to support daily operations on the production line. Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, this individual must be able to remain fully attentive of their work surroundings while working at a steady pace. They must be able to multitask and adapt to various work assignments, must keep their work area clean and follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines. In addition, individuals must work well with others in a supportive team environment in order to meet production quality and quantity standards, while reducing waste and rework and minimizing downtime.
Work with co-workers in the Blending area to ensure production needs are met by accurately blending raw materials using product batch sheets and following all quality standards.
Verify weights from Stage 1 process and add ingredients during Stage 2 process that have been pre-staged by the Material Handler.
Perform visual checks to ensure that the blended product contains no lumps or other inconsistencies and perform corrective actions such as sifting if problems are detected.
Obtain quality control samples from blended product.
Accurately completes Stage 2 paperwork, drum label and blending/allergen log.
Work with co-workers in the blending room to insure the effective operation of the blending room to meet production needs, quality standards and help minimize downtime and practice waste control.
Perform daily housekeeping duties in the work area and occasional housekeeping duties in the plant or warehouse areas including sweeping, vacuuming, collecting trash, washing walls and equipment.
Operate equipment in a safe manner and ensure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems.
Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines.

Senior Associate Blender
We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Blender to join our Smokeable Product Development Department in Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will work with Leaf Blenders and Flavorists to develop and maintain our portfolio of cigarette and cigar products.
Specific accountabilities include:
Managing the Leaf Blending Subjective Panel, which includes training panel members, scheduling products, subjective analysis methodology determination, recording & reporting of subjective results, and ensuring all laboratory requirements are met.
Managing the business functions of the Leaf Blending Group which includes, but is not limited to compiling & reporting business results and assisting in budget preparation & analysis.
Developing, implementing, and administering Protocol, Policies, Procedures & Instructions to manage & monitor dissemination of all blend formulas, blend simulation modeling results, tobacco and finished product inventory information for prototype production, and administrative records of the department which are in compliance with records management.
Coordinating the development of new product blends & tobacco processes in the Blending Services Lab so they may be subjectively evaluated prior to large scale production for market introduction. This includes the analysis & breakdown of competitor's products to generate prototypes which are similar in nature but provide an improvement subjectively in order to meet marketing demands.
Providing Blending technical assistance to departments outside of Leaf Blending to assist the production of new brands, and qualification of new processes and/or modifications to current products/processes.
Managing extremely sensitive information such as blend formulas and subjective smoking results. Assuming responsibility for technical accuracy of results, providing written interpretations of results and making recommendations based on those results.
