Block Machine Operator
This is a Night Shift position and oversees the daily shift production of concrete block products with a focus on block machine operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Tends automatic machine that casts concrete blocks
· Controls mix formulae as directed
· Performs adjustments and preventive maintenance on equipment
· Operates and cleans block machine daily
· Rebuilds mold boxes and other wearing parts

Inspecting, repairing and polishing dies requires prolonged sitting and muscular activity of hands and arms. In addition, quenching dies in heat treat requires protective clothing as dies are heated up to 1500 degrees F. Boxes of dies and par stock weigh up to 50 lbs. Proper lifting techniques must be adhered to at all times. Alertness and mental concentration is required because of the nature of the muscular and visual coordination needed to prevent damage to dies. Good eye hand coordination is required for forklift operation.

Machine Operator - 2Nd Shift
Transport Dynamics, a division of RBC Bearings, Inc., located in Santa Ana, CA, is the leading manufacturer of self lubricated bearings for aerospace and industrial applications, is currently looking for Machine Operators for our 2nd shift!
To operate a variety of machines in support of the final product.
THIS IS NOT A CNC MACHINEST POSITION
Operates, in the manner instructed, any machine tool to machine parts from all materials on a production basis. The incumbent will change tools as required to maintain the set-up.
Assists in making a set-by by procuring proper tools, making minor adjustments, interpreting process sheets and by following clearly detailed instructions of the supervisor or other machinist designated by the supervisor.
Secures first article inspection as required to verify established set-up and continues to check parts for conformance to production standards during the course of the run. At the completion of the run, the incumbent obtains an inspection buy off before going to the next job.
Uses precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers and various gauges to check work after each operation. Incumbent is responsible for plotting accurate charts as required by Quality Control.
Incumbent may move from machine to machine as requested by supervisor.
Uses hand and machine burring tools to burr, finish, or rework parts as required.
Incumbent is responsible for lubricating the machine they are operating, as required, for proper maintenance.
Accountable for cleaning the machine before completing the shift and/or prior to moving on to another machine.

Required: Minimum six months experience in a machine shop and/or the equivalent in training in shop practices. 8 hours of HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response will be provided along with 2 hours of Hazardous Materials Management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Must have the ability to read blueprints and use precision instruments.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
The incumbent generally works indoors where she/he is regularly exposed to moving parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The incumbent is exposed to the risk of electrical shock on a frequent basis due to the machinery operated. On an occasional basis the incumbent is exposed to caustic or toxic chemicals. Due to the machinery in use, the noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
To facilitate the machining process, the incumbent regularly stands, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms and talks or hears. On occasion, the incumbent is required to walk and climb on a low platform. In addition, the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must remain alert to prevent injury to him or herself and/or the equipment parts.

Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Have the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Experience working with Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, etc.

Job Description Machine Operator QUALIFICATIONS: * Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
Two to four years of Machine Operator experience.
Ability to transpose measurements from scale drawings into machine operating code. Program CNC machine tools, specifying movement along three axes to create shape specified.
Able to read, interpret and react to CMM reports. Read computer-generated profile views of a piece being made in order to adjust the tooling appropriately. Interpret blueprints showing where the holes are to be placed in a piece of steel.
Ability to interact with supervisors to take direction on job assignments, to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions and to seek help when problems arise. Interact with co-workers, including mechanics, welders and machinists, to exchange tips about methods and procedures, to relay new information and safety precautions, to receive instructions or to instruct others how to perform new jobs.
Possess good decision making skills to decide when to reset a machine if it is not cutting within tolerance levels and how to adjust or to change machine settings to improve the quality of pieces. Ability to refer to programming manuals to program machines.
Ability to work independently. When needed, be a part of a team which includes mechanics, welders, machinists, fellow operators and management to co-ordinate efforts to ensure that machines are used efficiently and work priorities are well managed.
Possess excellent computer skills to confirm measurements or adjust computer control (CNC) machinery, such as the Maho machine, which is used to cut metal to specifications. Full knowledge of CNC programming for lathes, mills and grinders
Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience. Receive training in first aid and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms to various levels within the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Set-up and troubleshoot machines in a safe and productive manner.
Analyze “out of tolerance” conditions and make adjustments.
Work to continuously improve all areas of productivity and reduce scrap.
Provide direct supervision to operators in the absence of the supervisor.
Train and assist operators with troubleshooting as needed and work in a team environment.
