Prepare cargo for shipment by land, sea, or air by blocking, bracing, staying, and securing. Follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials. Follow WPM/IPPC regulations.
Examine ammunition and components, determine required location in conveyance, note critical measurements, weights, and weight distribution of items in accordance with applicable regulations.
Interpret blueprints, weapons requirement specifications, and sketches. Use practical mathematics. Determine proper procedure from a variety of work methods and frequently devises methods of operations.
Cut and fabricate blocks, spacers, crates, boxes, and palletizing material for use in production packaging. Install blocking and bracing against walls, floors, and overheads.
Fabricate, fit, and install wooden bracing to secure odd shaped boxes, crates, large bombs, or missiles to withstand severe stress. Build temporary decking, bulkheads, and cribbing as required.
Utilize rip and band saws, drill presses, and various other hand and power carpenter tools to accomplish the above. Salvage used lumber for reuse in cribbing operations.

May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. CERTIFICATIONS: Must satisfactorily complete all the Training and Certification Programs for personnel working in Ammunition Operations required by AMC Regulation 350-4 within 90 days of hire. Maintaining current certification is a condition of continued employment.
LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license.

The ChallengeThe GE Appliances Principal Tooling Engineer - Metals will be a member of the Metal Stamping Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team. The Metal Stamping AME Team owns and maintains the engineering standards for metal stamping tooling and equipment for the company. The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing tooling and metal stamping equipment projects, ensuring that all tooling and equipment are compliant with standards and executed within the project or program deliverables (cost, quality and delivery). At times, the Tooling Engineer will be assigned to New Product Introduction (NPI) programs or to product lines projects to drive product cost out and factory productivity. The Tooling Engineer will be a key liaison between the project team and the plant operation and manufacturing teams; ensuring that plant priorities and objectives are clearly understood and considered for the area under their ownership.
What you will Do
Manage metal stamping tooling and equipment procurement projects: Including specification development utilizing GE standards, supplier selection, early supplier engagement, technical reviews, factory layout development, installation and qualification of high quality, right-sized and cost effective tooling & equipment. Ensure all tooling and equipment is reliable and robust and designed to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Coordinate design efforts between part design engineers and the Die Engineering Team in order to develop a robust Die Operational Lineup (DOL) that meets product and operational requirements.
Own the program metrics as applicable to your assigned projects: manufacturing labor plan (VLOH), equipment and tooling budgets and quality of in-house manufactured parts/product. Work with the program / projects team(s) to perform trade-off analysis on competing metrics if necessary and drive decisions based on overall business impact.
Facilitate / lead the use of the Production Preparation Process (3P) while developing manufacturing tooling, equipment and processes. Utilize cross-functional participation to ensure that the tooling, equipment and processes are compatible with the entire value stream. Efforts should include: right-sized equipment, workstation design, material presentation, standard work and single piece flow.
Standards and Compliance:
Ensure all equipment executed in GEA factories comply with Industry and Governmental Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
Utilize Human Organizational Performance (HOP) principles to ensure that all equipment / tooling / processes are implemented with the health and safety of the operators in mind.
Work with functional leaders to ensure equipment & processes support business initiatives of Bill of Process (BoP), Lean Manufacturing, Ergonomic Design and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Cross-functional Work and Leadership:
Work with factory operations and Lean teams to understand the Value Stream and how your projects impact this. Ensure material flow, workstation set up, model mix, etc. are considered when workstations / equipment are designed.
Utilize the 9-Step Process for tooling and equipment design; consult Critical Process leaders as applicable to ensure development of robust processes for part / product generation. Work with cross-functional team to develop Manufacturing Control Plans (MCP) and Manufacturing Control Instructions (MCI).
Work with design team to ensure Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) is considered on part design.
Provide guidance, mentoring, training and leadership for more junior tooling engineers and/or cross-functional team members with regard to tooling design and execution.
Utilize technical and project experience to add to the metal stamping and AME teams' body of knowledge to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization and company.

To identify, sort, clean and size scrap metals for efficient use in melting processes. To supply melting areas with cleaned, identified alloys. To process vacuum and air melted ingots (LSBO only).
Objective: to accurate classify and separate metal scraps.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Receives metal parts/gates from casting and backend operations.
B. Classifies all metal using a variety of visual methods including: gating systems, color, cutting behavior and spark test.
C. Classifies all metal using a variety of electronic methods (LSBO only), including spectrotest analyzer, Kevex analyzer and magnetic permeability.
2.Cleaning and Processing
Objective: to cut, process and clean metals into sizes for the melting processes according to PCC specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Processes metal using either gas torch and wheelabrators at TBO or abrasive saw, wheelabrator plasma arc or air arc torch at LSBO.
B. Cuts, cleans and processes air and vacuum melted ingots. (LSBO only)
C. Cleans metal through wheelabrating.
D. Sizes and cuts scrap returns for best charge loading; TBO tests for radioactivity and prepares for shipment to outside reprocessor.
E. Processes and recycles junk scrap metal for outside sale.
3.Completes logs and records.
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

The Supply Chain Engineering (SCE) Team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow Building 8 to deliver products to market at scale. Building 8 seeks a SCE Mechanical Metals Supply Base Engineer focused on manufacturing, tooling development, and supplier qualification. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. The role of a SCE Mechanical Metals Supply Base Engineer is complex must be led by someone who is both technically proficient to work with the engineering design teams, but also experienced in supply chain and manufacturing to bring that hardware tooling and technology into the mass production. Specific hardware development and tooling knowledge is required and the candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of tooling components and systems, understanding key factors in both the development, qualification, and manufacturing aspects of tooling products. Your role will be to act as the interface between the Building 8 Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to implement and execute comprehensive tooling solutions for our products.This is a full- time position.
Work with Engineering Team to identify the best supplier/partner to meet product requirements from both technical perspective as well as supply chain and manufacturing considerations
Interface directly with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Vendor teams to drive tooling procedures and process, including First Article, Reliability, Environmental, Production and Final Acceptance

Key Responsibilities & Functional Knowledge
This list is representative of the key areas of responsibility and functional knowledge required of a first class mechanic in the Sheet Metal shop. A first class mechanic must demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the skills, functional knowledge and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility.
Advanced knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them independently and teach others how to complete the tasks. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks. A first class mechanic also is expected to strategize independently and problem-solve as appropriate.
o Identify various sheet metal types and sizes by sight and feel
o Measure appropriate size of sheet metal
