Plastic Technician Duties:
Single source responsibility for blow molding process, efficient production, minor repairs, preventative maintenance and all required quality checks as specified in control plan.
Sufficient process knowledge to assure that all products produced will meet or exceed quality standards as specified in control plan
Make applicable process adjustments to insure line capability (timing adjustments, screen changes, etc.)
Demonstrate working knowledge of material handling system to insure accurate mixing of all additives, including, but not limited to the introduction of PCR, colorant etc.
Understand and meet all KPI's specified in control plan and interrelationship thereof
Train machine operators, wheel operators, and B plastic technicians
Audit quality records and processes involved in any aspect of blow molding
Perform tasks in a safe manner, observiing all plant and OSHA safety rules guidelines.

Plastic Technician Qualifications:

What will you do?
Process Design and Development: Review product designs to enhance Design for Manufacturability, determine process feasibility and development options, select equipment and tooling. You'll then work on development plans with mold makers, contract manufacturers, prototyping services, equipment or other service suppliers.
Engineering Project Management: Plan and execute the broader process development activities within a cross functional team, from concept through product launch.
Detailed Process Development: Develop detailed process development plans by applying failure mode analysis, process analytical tools, design of experiments, sound plastic part and mold design practices. Your final manufacturing plans will meet specifications for product, mold and equipment requirements within project capital and product cost guidelines.
Verification and Validation: You'll own and be accountable for FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ activities to ensure process verification and validation for molds, equipment and molding processes. You'll also assist in maintaining intellectual property rights for new processes.
Partner with Great Coworkers: Communicate with Marketing, Product Development, Industrial Design and other Operations team members to resolve process, mold and equipment details that differ from concepts or new product specifications. How will you get here?
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Plastics Engineering or related field or equivalent relevant work experience of 8 or more years.
Five or more years of process development experience with Injection Blow Molded and/or Injection Stretch Blow molded products.
Extensive experience with establishing process conditions and solving product quality issues by understanding the relationships of material, product design, tooling, machine and processing conditions.
Experience with evaluating and selecting mold tooling, plastic resins and processing equipment.
Experience with structured process qualifications, design of experiments, data analysis and technical writing is desired.
Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing concepts and familiarization of FDA regulations desired.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10- 20% of the time).

Prestone organization (Division of KIK Corporation) is seeking an experienced Maintenance/Blow Molding Mechanic to join our Alsip, IL location. Individual must have a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with a demonstrated expertise in the manufacturing processes including hands-on maintenance, repair and trouble shooting of blow-molding equipment, auxiliary equipment, filling station experience, and packaging equipment. Scheduled shift is 3:45 p.m. till 11:45 p.m. Training period on both day and midnight shift will be required to provide effective training.

High level of maintenance experience and hands-on operation of blow molding machinery – 9 to 12 unit stations – hydraulics and pneumatics
Welding, fabricating, and machining experience
Electrical experience with schematics, AC/DC, motor controls, and systems

This position and will require the Process Engineer to work a varied and as needed schedule. An explanation will be provided by the Production Manager and/or Human Resource Manager during an interview.
This position requires a thorough knowledge of the Two-Step Blow molding process and its related platforms. Experience and knowledge in the areas of tooling, quality, and process development is a must.
Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Abides by all Amcor's Safety & Quality policies and procedures.
Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate safety, quality, machine problems, and breakdowns to Production Supervisor or Management representative.
Develop and maintain Best in Class Processes.
Develop machine criteria for plastic processes.
Perform start ups of new equipment, tooling and processes
Produce sample products as necessary with NPD support.
Optimize process parameters based on product performance.
Establish process control parameters
Support and establish machine process parameters to achieve optimum quality containers.
Work with QA to measure containers to confirm physical characteristics and establish performance capabilities.
Responsible for communicating quality and/or required equipment maintenance issues to management for prompt disposition as needed or advised.
Recommend design modifications and process improvements if required to meet the Tentative Performance Specifications.
Prepare final report including: Process Set up Sheets and recommended Process Control Parameters.
Share plastic processing and mechanical knowledge with machine operators and maintenance personnel at all levels to provide continuous training and promote teamwork.
Share Best in Class data with other Amcor manufacturing facilities as necessary.
Supports Amcor by conducting tests and trials on containers or processes.
Start up and validate of new products.
Visit customers to validate container functionality, as necessary

Continuously improve process related trouble shooting tools.
Drive and assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI).
Schedule training classes for operators to inform and teach SOP's and WI's.
Audit the process and the structure.
Provide leadership and direction to operators in establishing and maintaining processes and driving continuous improvement.
Schedule and conduct training classes to enhance the knowledge of operators, Supervisors, Managers, and/or customers.
Test the trainees to insure they have obtained sufficient knowledge to operate the extrusion equipment safely and with a high degree of success.

Packaging and labeling
Report any and all safety violations to the shift supervisor to ensure the working environment is free from safety hazards.
Engages in the daily operator maintenance program such as basic oiling of machines.
