Performs general preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment and grounds. Working under close supervision, assists in monitoring building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
Performs assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems.
Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.
Inspects new installation for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Maintains lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures and replacing bulbs and lamps.
Maintains grounds of facility or property performing such tasks as raking, sweeping, leaf blowing or snow removal.
Performs welding, carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.
Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.

Follow all department and plant safety rules. Be aware of and contribute to Safety Training Observation Program. (S.T.O.P). Wear all safety equipment required such as respirators, safety glasses, metatarsal boots, gloves, face shields, and hearing protection. Be well versed in EXCELL. Know all about Standard Work, 5s, QCPC, Takt Time, TPM, and what a kaizen event is. Be familiar with the Exide Company wide Lean process and requirements to achieve plant certification. Be prepared to help other departments as needed.

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Boiler Process Leader in our plywood mill in Prosperity, South Carolina. The Boiler Process Leader will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Boiler house while directing the efforts of the Boiler team to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment consistent with management philosophy and framework.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
The Boiler Process Leader supervises operations of the Boiler house, fire protection system, and steam distribution system, including, domestic water, and natural gas. These systems provide required steam for heating and processes to the plywood and sawmill on a continuous around-the-clock basis, requiring oversight and utilization of the Boiler Burner Management system (BMS) and NFPA for fire protection. The scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to boiler room work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed.
Supervise Boiler Operators during various shifts to assure compliance with operational and maintenance standards
Provide training for the boiler operators including, but not limited to, the proper operation and maintenance of pumps, burners, boilers, tanks, valves, metering systems, water softeners, and control systems (pneumatic and electronic)
Maintaining the chemical treatment program for steam systems and the chilled water loop, charting consumption, and inspecting and adjusting the equipment to regulate and maintain an efficient and constant steam flow
General building maintenance of the boiler house and the fire protection system
Enforce federal regulations governing environmental protection, safety, hazardous waste disposal and the use of chemical substances and materials
Assists the Boiler Superintendent and coordinates with the Maintenance Gatekeeper and Maintenance Planner in evaluating the most efficient use of resources from contractors and maintenance in planning outages
Operates the boiler house for training purposes, emergencies, and if a shift is not covered by the Boiler operators
Because this role may be deemed essential, the incumbent must be willing and able report to work as scheduled if the Plywood Mill is closed due to severe weather – the supervisor will communicate whether the incumbent will be considered essential and under what situations
Serves as the Boiler Superintendent in his/her absence
What You Will Need:
A high school diploma or the equivalent
A minimum of five (5) years' experience operating and maintaining a 300psi or higher Boiler
Must have experience working with Boilers, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Must be willing and able to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time (i.e., lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling)
Must be willing and able to work in an environment which could require bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, heavy lifting, climbing stairs or ladders and working in high (e.g. elevated platforms/workstations, etc.) or confined spaces (e.g. tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, hoppers, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, equipment housings, ductwork, pipelines, etc.)
Must be willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
Must be willing and able to work 12+ hour rotating shifts that include weekends and holidays
Must be willing and able to participate in a rotating 24x7 on call work schedule
