Role Summary / Purpose
The experienced boilermaker will perform maintenance, repairs, installation, startup, and troubleshooting of boilers, firing system with fuel and air injection systems, pulverizes, and auxiliary components, and related equipment and systems and troubleshooting equipment.
The employee must be able to work in confined spaces as well as wear the following safety equipment (PPE) when need: life vests, ear protection, rubber gloves, leather gloves, hard hat, slicker suit, acid suit, rubber gloves, full face breathing mask, wearing full safety harness, or wearing a face shield. The heavy work demands will require up to 100 pounds of force to be exerted occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force to be exerted frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force to be exerted constantly to move objects.
Some of the other aspects of the field service job require you to be able to be away from home for extended periods of time. Employees must be prepared to work in different shifts, as required, to safely complete the assignment.
These positions are for work in the US and are for candidates that are Legally authorized to work in the US. You must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
o Perform maintenance, repairs, installation, startup, and troubleshooting of boilers, firing system with fuel and air injection systems, pulverizes, and auxiliary components, and related equipment and systems.
o Demonstrate ability to install manholes, handholes, valves, gauges, and feedwater connections in drums and vessels.
o Demonstrate ability to repair boilers, tanks, and vessels in the field by unbolting or flame cutting defective sections.
o Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, and defective sections so that they can be repaired. Inspect assembled vessels and individual components, such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, and auxiliary mechanisms, to locate any defects.
o Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves and regulators, using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment, and metalworking machinery.
o Working with towers / columns, exchangers
o Identify materials and layout on trays

Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundations using master straightedge, squares, transit and measuring tape and applies knowledge of geometry.
Precisely aligns structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks or vats, using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs or turnbuckles.
Hammer, flamecut, file or grind irregular edges of sections or structural parts to facilitate fitting edges together.
Position drums and headers into supports or bolts or welds supports to the frame.
Carefully align water tubes and connects and expands ends to drums and headers using tube expanders. Leak proof joints are obtained by bell, beading with power hammers or welding pressure vessel tube ends.
Bolt or weld casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and such fabricated parts as chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tubes, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers and safety hatch to frame, using wrench.

The Maintenance Craft role works independently and with others to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. Assures compliance with all Company policies and procedures and training requirements
Responsibilities may include:
- Instrument/Analyzer Technician
- Installing, removing, calibrating and repairing refinery electronic, digital, and pneumatic process control instruments. Installing and maintaining on-line analyzers. Testing and maintaining Safety Instrument Systems. Troubleshooting, maintaining and overhauling process control valves. Preparing schematic drawings, sketches and reports to reflect activities.
- Machinist- also Millwright
- Maintaining and troubleshooting plant rotating equipment including, but not limited to: centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, centrifugal and axial air blowers, steam turbines and gear boxes; also fin fans, cooling tower fans, soot blowers. Performing close tolerance work on metal machining equipment such as lathes. Performing repairs using various machine shop tools and equipment.
- Rigger/Crane Operator
- Operating power construction equipment, such as compressors, pumps, hoists, shovels, cranes, or tractors to excavate and move earth, erect structural and reinforcing steel, and pouring concrete or other materials. Control air and water output of compressors and pumps. Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to drive machines and control attachments. Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
- Installing, dismantling, and constructing of piping systems in various product services. Isolating, assembling and disassembling of piping systems, valves, rupture discs, steam tracing, gauge glass, heat exchangers
- Planning layout, installing and repairing conduit, wiring, electrical fixtures, and control equipment, Preparing sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams and blueprints to ensure that concealed wiring is installed, Installing, remove, calibrate and repair of electronic digital and analog and pneumatic process control instruments
Boilermaker - using shop grinders, electric saws, metal binding equipment, sheers, drill presses, torches and other equipment to work on multiple types of pressure vessels; such as tanks, drums, towers and reactors
Welder - preparing, planning, obtaining and setting up materials and clearances to execute work. Inspecting, maintaining and testing equipment. Fabricating and assembling parts and equipment. Removing, repairing and replacing pipes, tubing and valves. Maintaining logs records.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Maintain a valid driver's license
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/twic/index.shtm
Willing and able to perform/comply, with or without a reasonable accommodation, with the following:
To work overtime
To read at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits, instruction manuals
To climb up to 150 feet in height
To lift and transport materials (up to 50 pounds), bend, stoop, perform moderate manual labor, work in confined spaces, climb, and work at various levels above the ground Safe work practices and procedures
To maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven
To wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, ear protection, eye protection, fire retardant clothing
To work outdoors including in inclement weather conditions
To work in enclosed spaces, such as tanks and silos
To work around chemicals, including acids and bases, that may be under high pressure and heat
To perform firefighting duties as needed
Experience in an industrial setting such as a refinery, petrochemical, nuclear powerplant, pharmaceutical plant, brewery, or mill (steel/paper)
Experience in one or more of the Maintenance Craft positions: Instrument/Analyzer, Technician, Electrician, Machinist, Rigger/Crane Operator, Welder, Boilermaker, or Pipefitter
Proficiency in computer usage basics including e-mail and Windows navigation
