Job Description / Duties:
Completion of assignments relative to the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment within industrial boiler utilizing First Class prime skills. Perform tasks in other incidental craft areas as assigned. Will be held accountable for quality and quantity of work. Participate in training programs as assigned to maintain and or upgrade skills. Understand and comply with the SONS / Site work rules, the Code of Conduct and other applicable policies and procedures. Ability to coordinate work, function as a member of a team to complete tasks. Communicate job status by means of written/ oral to interested parties.

- Must be physically able to work at elevations, lift and carry 50 lbs, enter and work in a confined space, wear fresh air and a respirator, and be able to work occasional overtime and shift work.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundations using master straightedge, squares, transit and measuring tape and applies knowledge of geometry.
Precisely aligns structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks or vats, using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs or turnbuckles.
Hammer, flamecut, file or grind irregular edges of sections or structural parts to facilitate fitting edges together.

Description KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES This classification consists of Boilermakers. Personnel are expected to perform in the capacity of a Journeyman in the Boilermaker trade. Under indirect and intermittent supervision, they will perform work which will require experience, classroom training and on the job training, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, modifying all power plant equipment, including but not limited to turbines, generators, steam generators, related equipment and systems, buildings and properties. To perform this work they will use a wide variety of test equipment, hand and power tools, precision tools and new technology. These personnel are expected to be fully qualified in the capacity of a primary skilled journeyman as Boilermakers. Fabricates, lays out, bends, installs, removes, troubleshoots and repairs piping systems that involve butt welded connections, socket welded connections and screwed connections. Overhauls, inspects, repairs, installs, tests, or modifies valves, boiler tubing and repair, structural steel, stacks, chutes, wear plates, hoppers, coal and ash cars, ducts, girders, beams and all other related power plant equipment. Inspects, erects and disassembles all scaffolding and work platforms above 3 sections high. Inspects, modifies, erects and disassembles all suspended work platforms and scaffolds in the locations in which it is difficult to assemble or access them. Rebuilds, repairs, modifies and/or fabricates plant equipment; for example, piping or tubing, aluminum, cast aluminum, white metal stainless steel and various alloys.
Must be a fully qualified journeyman in one of the following Boilermaker, Pipefitter, Ironworker or Welder.
Must have completed a Company recognized apprenticeship in the trade. Candidates must submit an application and proof of Journeyperson status to be considered. Journeyperson proof is in the form of either a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship from a recognized apprentice Program.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED and letters from employers which verify eight years or more hands-on experience in the Boilermaker classification. Journeyperson letters must be on company letterhead, dated, signed by human resources, list classification, dates served in the classification and what candidates did in the capacity.
Must be able to train other maintenance personnel to perform in the lower skill levels of work.

- Previous experience in process internals such as valve trays, bubble cap trays, mist eliminators, structured packing, reactor internals, random packing, distributors, collectors of mass transfer equipment
- Two years or more of industrial plant experience blinding, opening, cleaning, and repair of pressure vessels working, such as towers, vessels, reactors, or drums installing mass transfer equipment (trays, packing, distributors, collectors, etc.).
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings or blueprints and can utilize them to identify and properly install process internals.
- Vocational training is preferred
- Basic Plus Orientation and Confined Space Training

- Successful completion of an NCCER craft assessment test
- Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
- Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces (18-36 inches in diameter) and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds, and working at heights.
- Must be able to perform work wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, FRC coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses, etc.
- Respiratory Protection Fit-Testing and Pulmonary Function Testing is required. Additional medical examinations, such as Pre-employment physicals exams may be required per client guidelines. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful.
- Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, unassisted.
Good manual dexterity for the use of common hand tools, power tools and the ability to navigate around obstacles in a petrochemical environment is necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT RQUIREMENTS
The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working at heights. Exposure to loud noises, fumes, sparks, vibrations, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the project. Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies, and procedures, and be performed in compliance with all federal, state and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.

Under strict supervision, assists during rigging-up and rigging-down of cementing service equipment on work locations to include spotting of cement storage vessels, pre-mixing of spacer fluids, rigging-up appropriate data monitoring equipment. Learns basic oil well operations including but not limited to: pipe capacities and volume/height math, plug landing pressures, absolute volumes (including total water requirements for job), hydrostatic and differential pressure, resulting forces, balanced plugs, bulk cement blending calculations to include liquid additives and weighted spacers, pressure to reverse, and determining burst and collapse.
Assists in the operation of some or all of the following: cement pumping and mixed equipment, blenders, liquid additive metering systems, centrifugal pumps, data acquisition systems, Automatic Density Control (ADC) systems, bulk cement blending, delivery, and storage systems, manifold equipment, and cementing plug releasing tools. Assists in the performance of pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and associated paperwork/reports. Understands hazardous materials, job, wash up and discharge procedures.
Verifies correct line up of valves on bulk systems and surface manifold equipment. Job tasks, correctly performed, have minimal impact upon the viability of the organization. Error is readily ascertainable by the supervisor and can be corrected.
Skills are typically acquired through successful completion of high school or similar education and 3-6 months of experience as an Operator Asst-Cementing I. Licensure to drive commercial equipment may be required. May require I-Learn courses:
Cementing II and Service Tools I. Given the nature of oil field service work, the ability to communicate effectively with others is necessary. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
