Monitors and verifies quality of finished product.
Completes repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.

This position reports to the Santa Barbara Focalplane facility in Goleta, CA. Understanding the technical details of the Integrated Detector Cooler Assembly (IDCA) product and processes is critical to delivering results that improve the process performance.
Works in a team environment to develop, qualify, and implement IDCA process improvements working with design engineering and quality engineering. Supports the daily production needs for rework, training and revised process documentation. Methodical troubleshooting of process issues to drive resolution and understanding of root cause. Also responsible for the coordination with production for performing engineering experiments and implementing process changes and working on introduction of new equipment.

About Our Team
Sandia National Laboratories Microsystems and Engineering Sciences Applications (MESA) complex provides unique processing capability in semiconductor microfabrication. The MESAFab Operations departments develop and maintain core semiconductor processing capabilities and capacity that enable our customers to build differentiating Microsystems products. Two unique facilities are co-located within the 65,000 square foot MESAFab complex including: (1) a 12,000 square foot Class 1 Silicon Fab for 6-inch silicon wafer processing and (2) a 15,000 square foot Class 10 and Class 100 MicroFab for compound semiconductor material processing and silicon wafer post-processing. Key microfabrication processing areas include photolithography, reactive ion etch, wet etch/clean, oxidation and diffusion, thin films, CMP (planarization), ion implantation, metrology, deep reactive silicon ion etch, wafer bonding and thinning, electroplating, packaging, MEMS release, yield learning and statistical process control. Both processing and maintenance expertise are staffed on all 3 shifts. We offer unique prototyping capabilities. We are capable of producing full flow production lots with quick turnaround time as well as performing flexible process development. Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented person, with very good manual dexterity and experience in clean room operations. The primary job is supporting cooled wafer manufacturing in the InSb & InGaAs wafer processing fab as a thin film vacuum technician. The job functions include: running and minor maintenance of thin film vacuum deposition equipment, wet and dry chemical etching, inspection of all deposition layers, and data entry onto traveler and in WIP tracking software. Chemical mixing and understanding of safe chemical handling is required. Good manual dexterity is required for all aspects of wafer and die handling. Familiarity with microscope inspection is also required. Full gowning protocol for class 10,00 clean room required.

Performs thin film production runs to support cooled wafer and FPA processing. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on wafer fabrication equipment. Works with engineering in conducting tests and experiments.
