About the Opportunity Help us succeed by doing your part as a member of our Bonding department as a Composite Bonding Mechanic. This position's main responsibility consists of pre-fitting and laying-up aluminum and composite metal details for use in the bonding process.

Major duties of a Composite Bonding Mechanic include:
Uses small hand tools used for cleaning tools prior to bonding
Lays out articles, cuts parts or materials to size.
Applies liquid or solid bonding agents.
Makes a leak proof bag and perform pressure check.
Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.
Sands, burrs and smoothes over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
Monitors and verifies quality of finished product.
Completes repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
Reads and interprets blue prints and customer specs
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required;
One to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Production Leader - Bonding
- Production is responsible for managing all aspects of scheduling, procurement of components, equipment maintenance, project and process planning and employee resource planning within a CNC Machining, Grinding, Welding, Stamping, Heat Treatment, or Assembly department in Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.
This position holds the responsibility for planning, procurement, implementation and commissioning of new capital equipment for new programs and capacity increases. The Leader
Production must be very proactive in getting accurate information and will interface with Product Development to understand future projects and what process development will be required. The Leader
Production will also be directly involved with determining manufacturing feasibility of new products. In order to be effective, the Leader
Production must have an excellent understanding and working knowledge of CNC Machining, Grinding, Welding, Stamping, Heat Treatment, or Assembly operations. A strong understanding of tooling concepts is also necessary. The Leader
Production will monitor the routing systems, plan capacities for new processes. The Leader
Production will optimize current processes utilizing time studies and workflow knowledge.
Production must provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with Schaeffler policies and procedures as well as assist employees in setting goals. The Leader
Production must lead employees by creating training and development plans, coaching employees, and providing feedback in regards to employee performance, quality, and safety. The Leader
Production will be required to mentor and empower their employees to foster a team environment and have strong conflict management skills, be able to maintain employee work schedules, manage multiple projects at once, and have ability to make quick effective decisions. Due to the fact that this individual will interface frequently with both local and international Schaeffler associates, as well as with external customers; excellent communication skills are critical. Travel may be required for this position.

Through the use of detailed work instructions, completes a variety of intricate processes (such as bond layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave setup and deflash) using a variety of skills.

- use a variety of hand/power tools to remove unwanted material (composite, epoxy, etc.) and get the part into specification

Responsibilities of Bonding Operator:

Installs molds in presses and makes all necessary hook-ups, settings and adjustments in accordance with the established process paperwork.
