Ensure efficient operations of department to meet business objectives and customer needs
Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary

Develops and trains future leaders in the School of Retail Management (SORM) and School of Retail Leadership (SORL) programs
Maintains contact with Partners at all levels in the organization involved in processes that touch department
Plans, analyzes, builds and maintains required displays based on PDP and ordered via DOL (Displays On Line)
Completes and distributes all required reports and paperwork so that accounting statements accurately reflect departmental performance
Utilizes all department SOPs and department procedures to minimize shrink
Maintains positive Vendor relationships
Ensures that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met
Researches and analyzes potential or existing process breakdowns and works with necessary Partners to identify and solve problems
Fully leverages existing rules and procedures and applies accurate logic and common sense to make effective, appropriate judgments
Actively focuses others' attention on efforts that will lead to organizational growth, cost control, and profitability
Displays/cooks product and explains features to customers, including planning, gathering, and arranging an attractive presentation
Handles backup and prep responsibilities

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE preferred:
Typically requires 2 years of related experience
Must exhibit strong interest/knowledge/ability in food preparation to include knowledge of ingredients and cooking
Food related skills or experience strongly desirable (catering, food presentation, large scale cooking, ethnic food knowledge, recipe development, etc)
Passion for food
Previous food demonstration and selling skills required
Able to proficiently communicate verbally and written to all Partner levels
Excellent interpersonal skills
Computer skills: Email, H-E-B systems and equipment, Microsoft Suite
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Retail Management Trainees are participants in H-E-B's School of Retail Management program. Cooking Position (No Weekends)
The Assistant Food Coordinator of Senior Dining is responsible for assisting the Food Coordinator in the preparation and service of the noon meal for Senior Dining/Meals on Wheels. The Substitute Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of the Senior Dining Program menus. The Substitute Cook works with other food service staff, volunteers, and the Senior Dining Coordinator to accomplish a quality food service operation meeting Senior Dining Program standards in the absence of the Food Coordinator.
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 1 year of cooking experience required. Knowledge of food service equipment operation is helpful.
The daily food service routine requires lifting, standing, and carrying of objects. This person routinely handles approximately 35 pounds in kitchen due to volume and nature of workload. At times there is handling of objects that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

Cooking Coach Specialist
Cooking Coach Specialists will be in charge of cooking demonstrations at the Cooking Connection. The Cooking Coach Specialist will report to the Cooking Connection Manager. This position requires mostly evening shifts and does involve weekends. Strong salesmanship skills are essential and excellent communication skills are a key factor due to the direct contact with customers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Demonstrates dinner menus/recipes to create excitement around cooking at home and the overall enjoyment of food
Conducts cooking method and recipe preparation demonstrations and provides samples to customers
Provides customer assistance and education in meat/seafood selections
Lends advice to customers for menu development to create a meal
Informs customers about meat/seafood contribution to the diet
Preps products for use in demonstrations
Ability to explain meat/seafood preparation
Familiar with a wide range of cooking techniques and equipment
Ability to present information verbally to an audience with energy and enthusiasm
Knowledgeable about seasonings for meat/seafood
Strong public speaking skills with ability to simplify cooking and communicate cooking methods in easily understood terms
Computer skills (Windows) preferred
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Must be at least 18 years of age
Degree in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Home Economics, or five years of other relevant food/cooking experience or combination preferred
