Quad Graphics Book Plant on Baker Rd. is currently seeking to hire (2) FT Trimmer Operators. Job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Set up, run and maintain/troubleshoot Trimmer portion of the perfect binder
Set trimmer blades, cut dimensions, feeds and change blades
Continuous review of job ticket specifications to meet Customer and productivity commitments
Operate equipment in a safe manner including adhering to established standard procedures and current Company Safety guidelines surrounding personal protective equipment
Interact with shift supervision and fellow operators on production issues, job status and productivity metrics
Mechanical ability to effectively perform equipment operation and maintenance
Prior experience operating Trimmers on Perfect Binding equipment (Heidelberg)
Some supervisory experience helpful to assist Perfect Binder Operator with effectively managing assigned crew to support productivity requirements.
Essential functions of this job include the following: the ability to lift 10-15 pounds continuously, the ability to life up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in a controlled movement, receive and follow instructions and use vision in order to identify defects.
Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts from 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM, which may include days, nights, weekends and overtime.
Intermediate computer skills and some Microsoft experience.

Separate and space portion cut steaks after being processed through the Trim-line/B-55 machine to be weighed.
Cut meat into beef stew
Package stew and bi-product into 5 pound weighed
Ensure that all product specifications are being met according to guidelines.
Maintain work areas in compliance with U.S.D.A. guidelines.
Properly clean, store and maintain all knives, assigned to you.
Complete other duties as requested by supervisor wipe down ceilings and tables for condensation prior to meat cutters start

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Physical strength to lift and maneuver 50-60 pounds. Standing, stooping are regular activities for this employee.
Color vision is required the ability to touch, feel, manipulate fingers and limbs to operate various processing and material handling equipment is necessary. The ability to smell is required, in order to detect levels of wholesomeness and spoilage.
This position requires the candidate to be in refrigerated processing area. These areas are cold and wet and exposure to moving machinery and sharp surfaces are a regular occurrence. This is a high noise area.

The Book Designer will be part of a dynamic, creative team of designers and editors who specialize in creating illustrated how-to books for fine artists. Major responsibility of the designer is the design of book covers and interiors for art instruction books, which includes concept development, full book layout, production, preparing files for prepress and reviewing proofs.
Essential Job Functions
Design of art instruction books (book covers, book interiors) from concept all the way through prepress.
Work closely with design, editorial and sales team members to make sure books meet goals and maintain brand standards. Attend weekly team meetings for status reports.
Work closely with the Production Department to make sure books are produced efficiently, with high quality standards, and in a timely manner. Deliver files correctly prepared for prepress. Review color proofs for quality.
As a team player, it is also expected that this individual would take on additional design and production tasks when needed outside the daily duties of the job description. Additional tasks may include DVD covers, social media and marketing materials.
Reports and receives direction from the Art Director, with input from Senior Designer.
A college degree with at least 2 years of experience in the field of graphic design. Previous print design or publication design experience is a plus.

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES
Employees in this class trim, cultivate, repair, remove and transplant trees and shrubs and apply pesticide. This requires extensive climbing, use of ropes, ladders, aerial lifts, and a variety of tools used in forestry work.
At the time of application and appointment, qualified candidates must have:
- At least two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years trimming trees, bushes and other types of brush (Part-time experience will be acceptable and must be performing the above duties for 4160 hours); AND
- A valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a "B" designation and Air Brakes Certification; AND;
- An acceptable safe driving record.
NOTE: Applicants must describe their experience and training in sufficient detail to allow evaluation of their acceptability under the above qualifications. Failure to do so will result in a rejection of their application.
Applicants must be able to do extensive climbing to various heights and work in adverse weather conditions.
Appointees within the first four (4) months of their probationary period must provide documentation that they have certification with the State of Michigan as a Pesticide Applicator with Category 6 (right-of-way).
Appointees within the first six (6) months of their probationary period must receive MIOSHA Aerial Lift certification and must also pass the Tree Trimmer climbing exam covering tree-climbing ability (including climbing into a tree of variable heights, going out on the limb using proper rope and knot techniques and coming down from the tree safely).
If the Pesticide Applicator certification is not received and maintained, or the aerial lift certification is not received, or the employee does not successfully pass the tree climbing test within six (6) months of hire; the employee will be removed from the Tree Trimmer position pursuant to the Department of Personnel/Human Resources and Department of Public Services procedures.
TYPES OF TESTS
A Written test (70%) will be administered covering knowledge of tree biology; tree identification; pruning concepts and techniques; tree planting, climbing and safety techniques.
A Performance test (30%) will be administered and will include the basic skills and abilities to perform the duties of the Tree Trimmer position.
Candidates must pass all tests in order to be placed on the eligibility list.
To establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies. The eligible list will remain in effect for six (6) months, but may be extended.
This is a continuous examination and ranking on the eligible list will be subject to change as names are added to and removed from the list.
Applicants who fail the written examination must wait 30 days before reapplying for this announcement.
Pay Rate and Fringe Benefits: Appointments will usually be made at the minimum rate with annual increases where applicable.
Payment is on a biweekly basis. Employees receive liberal fringe benefits, which include vacation pay, sick leave pay, health care insurance, optical, dental, long term disability, life insurance and a retirement plan.
Drug Screen: A pre-employment drug screen may be given to persons hired by the County to fill positions requiring an employee to drive a County vehicle or operate County equipment.

Play Reading Book Club Coordinator
The Play Reading Book Club (PRBC), is a pioneering neighborhood-based audience development initiative that utilizes theatre literacy to create a space for audiences to deeply engage with theatre on both a textual and artistic level. Throughout the ArtsEmerson season, participants gather at partner institutions such as the Dudley Branch Library and the BCYF/Jackson Mann Community Center to read, discuss, see, and analyze plays within the ArtsEmerson season. Each book club is facilitated by a teaching artist from the Emerson College Theatre Education Master’s program or by professional teaching artists in the field.

Overview of Project Administration:
Reporting to the Audience Development Manager, the Play Reading Book Club Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations and community relations of the ArtsEmerson Play Reading Book Club across various partner organizations throughout the 2017/2018 season. This position requires 10-15 hours of work per week.
Play Reading Book Club Coordinator Duties and
Implement strategies and procedures leading to successful program operations.
Serve as the liaison between ArtsEmerson and PRBC partner organizations.
Support teaching artists by ensuring they have the adequate program supplies and resources for successful facilitation of weekly PRBC sessions.
Read, research and remain knowledgeable of all productions in the ArtsEmerson season that are a part of the PRBC.
Review and respond to Weekly Teaching Artist Reports and ensure that they are cataloged and filed for documentation purposes.
Work with various departments at ArtsEmerson and Emerson College to coordinate logistics of events directly related to the PRBC, including participant trips to ArtsEmerson performances, related talkbacks, receptions and public sharing events.
Assist in generating and maintaining comprehensive documentation and evaluation of all PRBC activities utilizing methods such as taking pictures at PRBC sessions and pre-show receptions and issuing participant evaluations at the end of the program.
Maintain an up-to-date data base of program participants contact information and demographics.
Assist with recruitment of program participants across partner organizations.
Manage changes to the project plan, project schedule, and project budget in collaboration with the audience development manager.
