WHAT DOES A LEAD DATA TRANSCRIBER DO? A Lead Data Transcriber performs a vital role in the Service's ability to process thousands of tax returns each year. In this position, you will serve as a work leader over employees engaged in accomplishing data transcription work. This work includes examining incoming returns, perfecting them to ensure compliance with the required format, and finally processing the return using the systems and applications that you will be trained to operate. This process ultimately converts millions of paper documents, including a variety of taxpayer prepared returns and related schedules, federal tax forms, and other taxpayer information, to tape.

As a Data Transcriber you will:
Review documents for specific requirements necessary for processing. Processes current year and/or prior year individual and/or business returns and related information.
Bring documents into compliance with the required format or initiate action to obtain or clarify information not otherwise available.
Identify and properly route correspondence (e.g., letters, powers of attorney, etc) to appropriate function for processing.
Interpret taxpayer's intent from available data and complete the document in the required format.
Identify and review Forms W-2 attached to Forms 1040EZ and 1040PC for conditions meeting Criminal Investigation criteria and code the returns appropriately.
Prepare documents for scanning by detaching Forms W-2, correspondence, unnecessary schedules, etc. from the returns; removes staples and paper clips; and makes necessary repairs to ensure documents are scannable.
Perform original entry, character identification, and/or data validation functions.

We are looking for many experienced vendors / independent contractors who can transcribe audio content of criminal investigations, internal affairs, and various law enforcement audios. Contractors must have prior verbatim, multi-speaker transcription experience.The most successful candidates will have experience transcribing for a law enforcement agency (police department, sheriff's department, etc.), court reporting experience, or similar. Whether you want to transcribe full-time or part-time, we have more than enough orders to go around.
New orders are available Monday through Friday with turnarounds that vary from same day to 5 business days. The majority of our orders are 3 business days. Our order pool allows you to choose orders that fit into your schedule -- displaying length of audio and turnaround for each order. You may claim anywhere from a couple orders a week up to fully booking yourself a "full-time" amount of orders.
Pay is per audio minute and dependent on the turnaround time of the order. Contractors are paid Net 30 on the 1st and the 15th of the month.
We only contract with citizens of the United States that reside within the USA. A full criminal background check is required for individuals completing this work.
There is an initial assessment period before any vendor is able to complete client work.
