Brake Systems Test And Development Engineer
The Brake Systems Test and Development Engineer will be responsible for the brake system development and certification testing for FCA products. This Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of brake systems testing including the coordination and planning of testing at the proving grounds and with design/release engineers located at the FCA US Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Test Engineer will also be responsible for utilization of local work order system, data processing and analysis, test report generation, population and maintenance of test results database, the writing and maintenance of test procedures, the writing and maintenance of brake systems compliance reports, and the development of new data analysis tools/templates. Additional duties will include identifying product issues through vehicle test/evaluation and data assessment, performing data processing, analysis, root cause and recommending solutions for vehicle and brake systems component issues. The Test Engineer will perform the aforementioned duties to arrive at the root cause and provide short and long term corrective actions for issues discovered during the process. Some travel to the Arizona Proving Grounds is required in the winter months to support brake test trips.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
Experience in data analysis, data mining, and trend analysis
Fluency in MS Office (primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Experience with hydraulic brake systems, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control
Knowledge of federal brake test standards -- FMVSS 135 & 105
Knowledge of European test standards -- AMS, ECE-13H
Experience with data acquisition equipment, sensors, and calibration
Background in automotive development including benchmarking, setting functional objectives, vehicle development, and production launch
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills along with excellent organizational skills
Excellent work ethic with ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities
Full Line Technician - Alignment And Brake Technician - Full Time
Diagnose and repair to specifications – brake and hydraulic, suspension and alignment, and exhaust.
Change oil, oil filter, check/replace bulbs and wipers, and check fluids and air filters. Install batteries and checks electrical systems.
Install and perform tire maintenance. Install parts which include shock absorbers and suspension.
Inform store management of equipment mechanical repair problems as they occur
Maintain an organized and neat bay.
Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
Adhere to all company policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules.
Road test vehicles when needed.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn basic mechanical tasks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Test coordinator needed in a high energy, 24/7 engineering test lab environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work closely with test engineers and technicians to execute automotive brake testing in an
efficient, organized and accurate fashion.
Perform daily audit of test schedule. Work with test engineers to review test requests, parts for accuracy to ensure correct execution of testing
Record and publish daily test schedule to test engineering and application engineer
Incorporate requested changes into the test schedule, adjust schedule and publish to engineering and program management
Proactively acquire, arrange, and prepare test part kits for requested testing to ensure smooth and timely transition from test to test
Review test data and paperwork for completeness and accuracy with regards to customer specifications
Collect test paperwork to submit to test engineering for processing.
Manage inventory of test parts to ensure good tracking of fixtures, test hardware
Participate and perform 5S and continual improvement activities on a daily or weekly basis
Participate in environmental, health and safety (EHS) activities for the lab site – lock out /tag out, risk assessment, compliance activities
Perform test sample measurements with basic gauges and lab equipment – micrometers, hardness machines, surface profilometers, and digital cameras
Perform hands on testing – dyno set ups, start-up procedures, programming and data collection
Fill in for test technicians when needed which may include afternoon shift coverage

Experience with brake testing – dynamometer set-up
Automotive, aerospace, or similar testing experience preferred
Hands on experience in testing, lab or manufacturing environment. Provide hands-on support in test machine set ups

Remove old lining from brake shoes using delining equipment and zip guns.
Clean, sandblast and paint shoes in preparation for riveting operation.
