An Asbestos Worker fabricates, removes, installs, and disposes of insulating materials and coverings from equipment and areas; sets-up and maintains containment areas for the removal and disposal of hazardous materials in conjunction with insulation work and elimination of possible Hantavirus contamination; and does related work.
1.Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an Asbestos Worker; or
2.Six years of full-time paid experience as an insulator or asbestos worker performing insulating or asbestos-type work.
1.Applicants filing under Requirement #2 who lack six months or less of the required experience may file for this examination. However, they cannot be appointed until the full experience requirement is met.
2.A valid California driver's license is required. Applicants will be disqualified and not eligible for hire if their record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation (such as DUI).
3.Applicants filing under Requirement #1 must submit a copy of the Asbestos Worker apprenticeship certificate at the time of filing. The copy of the certificate must be attached to the on-line application BEFORE the application is submitted. If the certificate is attached AFTER the on-line application has been submitted, it will not be available to the City and applicants WILL NOT be credited with having submitted it. Applicants who fail to submit the certificate at the time of filing by not attaching it to the on-line application will not be considered further in this examination and their application will not be processed.
4.Cal/OSHA Regulations and Department Regulations require the wearing of a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) under hazardous and emergency conditions. Therefore, as a condition of employment, all employees in this class must ensure they are free from certain types of facial hair and medical conditions so that a SCBA can be worn safely.
5.Incumbents must also be trained and maintain the certification of training for "Competent Person" in the handling, decontamination, and disposal of hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead.

Computes amount of material required to complete job orders.

A Concrete Finisher is a person with the skill and experience necessary to perform a variety of construction activities relating to the layout, preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete. This position is expected to perform all aspects of concrete work with minimal direction from a crew foreman.
Work relating to the layout, site preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete on a variety of military/government/commercial type construction projects. While not inclusive, the following are some of the typical tasks expected of this position:
