For nearly 70 years, the National Science Foundation (NSF) has remained the premier Federal agency supporting basic research at the frontiers of discovery across all fields, as well as science and engineering education at all levels. The Senior Executive Service (SES) covers managerial positions above GS-15 in the Federal Service. Persons appointed to the SES are eligible for health benefits, life insurance, social security, Federal retirement and thrift savings plan coverage, and participate in the Federal leave system.
Career appointees are eligible for bonuses based on performance in addition to base pay. Competitive status is not required, veteran's preference does not apply and there are no grade restrictions. New appointees to the SES are required to serve a one-year probationary period. Final selection of career appointees requires the approval of the U.S.
Office of Personnel Management (OPM). OPM approval will be based on the selectee's background in the following five executive core qualification areas: (1) Leading Change, (2) Leading People, (3) Results Driven Leadership, (4) Business Acumen, and (5) Building Coalitions. This position may also be filled on a one-to-three year Senior Executive Service (SES) Limited Term Appointment or on an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) assignment basis.

Responsibilities Serves as Division Director in the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences
(AGS), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO). The mission of the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences is to enable fundamental research as well as to support relevant infrastructure and education that advances understanding of the behavior of the earth’s atmosphere and its interactions with the sun. Included are studies of physics, chemistry, and dynamics of earth’s upper and lower atmosphere and its space environment, research on climate processes and variations and studies to understand the natural global cycles of gases and particles in earth’s atmosphere.
The Division also provides support for participation by the United States scientific community in international scientific research endeavors, such as the World Climate Research Program. The Division works with individual grants and at national research facilities, including the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and with the U.S. atmospheric sciences academic community to direct funding towards advancing the frontiers of knowledge, developing the next generation of researchers, and enhancing the public’s understanding of atmospheric sciences. The Division Director provides leadership and management to the Division’s programs, assists the Assistant Director in carrying out Directorate-wide responsibilities such as the preparation of budget submission for Congress, provides oversight and management of the Division budgets, and oversees the recruitment of scientific staff.
The incumbent also supervises and provides leadership and guidance to administrative and support personnel within the Division. Externally, the Division Director represents the Division in a variety of NSF-wide and interagency activities related to research and education, and in interactions with the community. The successful candidate will possess an established record of significant achievement in research administration as well as leadership responsibility in academia, industry, or government.
In addition to having a strong record of research and education accomplishments within his or her technical communities, the Division Director must be experienced and competent in technical, financial, and administrative management. He/she must work well with people, be an effective communicator, and act as a mentor to continuously develop the diversity of talent and skills of his or her collegaues at all levels.

Position Overview The University of Kansas seeks a tenure-track assistant professor in Atmospheric Science. This position is a full-time, academic year appointment. The faculty member will participate in the teaching mission of the Geography and Atmospheric Science Department, including teaching established courses at the introductory level (e.g., ATMO 321: Climate and Climate Change); conduct research in climate science leading to publication in appropriate peer-reviewed journals and to obtain external funding as appropriate; and engage in unit, College, University, and national service. A Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or related discipline is expected by the start date of appointment. The successful candidate for the position must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start of the position. Performs a brazing using a gas torch welding similar materials together (mainly copper) using a filler material. Performs standard soft copper brazing in coils, headers, and partial valve pack materials following detailed work instructions, processes and procedures (written and verbal) to meet and exceed customer expectations. Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and shop orders to weld coil units.
Operates within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). 2. Safety Awareness Take responsibility for their own safety as well as the safety of others. Understand the proper processes/equipment in the department.
Knowledge of JSA’s, PPE usage, 5S, and all safety regulations in the facility. Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions and complies with all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures. 3. Quality - Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisors.
Performs first article inspection for conformance to specifications both blue print and work order. 4. Teamwork – Builds teamwork by working with other departments, shifts, and management to meet and exceed customer expectations. Controlled Environments Territory Manager – South Central
Reports To: Controlled Environments Director of Sales
Territory: Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma and Colorado
Location: Must reside within the identified market for the territory (Dallas, TX; preferred)
Essential Duties &
- Prospecting for new business with existing and new end-users
- Manage existing business with end-users
- Manage distributor relationships via strategic meetings, joint calls on end-users, training and events
- Work with Sales Management to develop strategic territory business plans for achievement of sales growth
- Participate in industry shows and professional organizations
- Manage a multi-state territory
- Attend manufacturer training
- Implement behaviors to achieve company goals
- Learn and apply Sandler Selling System
- Ability to maintain vitality throughout a long sales cycle (4 months up to a year)

Experience, Skills & Competencies:
- 3-5 years of outside sales experience; required
- Previous experience with up to 50% or more of overnight travel in last 3 years; preferred but not required
- Track record of successful selling and relationship building
- Life Science selling experience; preferred but not required
- Capital Equipment selling experience; preferred but not required
- Experience using CRM software; Salesforce preferred but not required
- Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office tools; i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with industrial sales distribution; preferred but not required

Assistant Scholar/Scientist, Atmospheric Science
The Florida Space Institute (FSI) invites applications for a non-tenure earning position as assistant scholar/scientist with a concentration in atmospheric science. The incumbent will participate in Global‐scale Observations of the Limb and Disk (GOLD) science team activities.
Specifically, the incumbent will develop capabilities to identify and analyze the contributions of waves and tides from the mesosphere (Earth's middle atmosphere) to temperature and composition changes in the lower thermosphere (Earth's upper atmosphere) and publish results from GOLD data relating to those effects. Position Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Space Physics or Atmospheric Sciences or equivalent from an accredited institution, and one year of postdoctoral experience in atmospheric science related to thermosphere, ionosphere, or magnetosphere studies. Preferences Experience with studies of dynamics in the middle to upper atmosphere; two or more years of postdoctoral experience in atmospheric science related to thermosphere, ionosphere, or magnetosphere studies; expertise with remote sensing technologies; expertise with LIDAR technology and science; and expertise with satellite instrumentation.
Special Conditions Due to the nature of the research performed, U.S. citizenship and the ability to attain security clearance is beneficial, but not required. This is a full-time, 12-month position supported by contracts and grants funding (C&G) and is contingent upon available funding. Duties and Responsibilities
Continuously completes successful braze and debraze procedures in manufacturing cell.
Assembles using resistance tack welders.
Able to conform to ASME Section 9, Chapter B 3.3.
Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of work pieces using gas torches or electric ultrasonic equipment
Be willing and able to learn, teach and interact with all functions necessary to support fabrication team, unit and company objectives
Participate actively as a team member through continuous improvement activities to meet customer needs
Comply with all applicable safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to team leader or appropriate resource
Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
Notify team leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory
Position production materials and tooling, and maintain proper dimensions according to print specifications
Perform operation in accordance with production documentation
Select and move production materials as required
Maintain production equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation
Meet established performance standards to ensure production schedules are met
Perform rotational assignments including grinding, forming (press brake), welding and spot welding and other duties as assigned
