Job Description Reporting directly to the shift supervisor, responsible for the overall quality and production output of dedicated machines. Act as “Cell Lead”, providing direction and training to machine operator as needed. • Conduct “preflight” checklist items at beginning of each shift to have machine at maximum efficiency to include: Check fluids and maintain fills as needed Inspects all fixtures and datums at beginning of shift and make repairs as needed Perform Quality checks per established Control Plan at beginning of each shift monitor gauges for calibration. Analyzes results of CMM reports and reacts accordingly (using proper understanding of machine tooling), up to and including radius comps and tool monitoring systems. Use DataPage to Analyze SPC data from CMM reports and reacts accordingly Ensure correct materials is staged and ready Ensure 5S standards for each machine are met and maintained • Conducts tool changes, evaluates tooling wear or breakage issues, stages tools for upcoming tool changes per specified instruction and periodically reviews information with engineering. Confirms tooling instructions remain current. • Coordinates product flow to and from machines, communicates with material handlers regarding upcoming changeovers and monitors material characteristics (rust, correct labeling, etc.) • Approves completed production quantity as described by Inspection Plan • Conducts machine/product changeovers with assistance of operator as requested • Responsible to troubleshoot and repair minor mechanical and automation issues to assigned machines including the change of coolant filters. Issues work orders into Maintenance System for repairs beyond scope of Setter. • Become involved in Preventive Maintenance activities by monitoring fluids and lubricant usage levels, detecting leaks or breaks to equipment. Support maintenance as requested. • Evaluate and dispositions all scrap at end of shift. • Compliance to all Continental and Henderson plant permits, policies and procedures including, but not limited to, environmental, health, safety, security, ISO 14001 and Environmental Management systems, TS 16949 and Quality Management Systems, Human Resources policies, and Continental Business System elements. • Verify all safety devices are in place and remain in place, are operational. Inspects work areas for potential safety hazards. • Immediately communicates production nonconformances to Supervisor and Quality representative. Actively engage in 8D problem solving teams to resolve customer issues. Ensures conformance to all Quality procedures, alerts and operator instructions remain current. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following and all other duties as may be assigned. Individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1. Performs such typical operations as assembling prefabricated parts into welding jigs or fixtures to blueprint dimensions.
2. Assembles parts preparatory to welding by fitting, filing, deburring, trimming to scribe lines, grinding; straightens and aligns them after welding.
3. Assemblies made require some correction for stress and distortion.
4. Sets up and operates all grinding equipment, expanders, and large and small band saws, hand plannish sheet metal parts.
5. Determines shrink allowances in order to compensate for this condition.
6. Checks planning sequence of work operations and submits any corrections or suggestions to the Foreman for approval.
7. Holds parts in place by spot welding, clamping, bonding or machine tacking.
8. Performs rework, repair and other associated operations in connection with the work described.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must be able to read and work from blueprints and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales and Vernier calipers.
TYPICAL MATERIALS, TOOLS and EQUIPMENT USED
Materials worked on: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in the form of sheet, castings, forging, and extrusions, tubular stock machined, and formed parts.
Materials worked with: Emery cloth.
Tools used: Hand tools, scales, router jigs, measuring instruments, hand snips, templates, jigs and fixtures, mandrels, dollies, bumpers, check fixtures, etc. Must have, at all times, complete set of personal tools adequate to perform the work covered by the job classification.

Set up and operation of Heat treating and controlled atmospheric brazing furnaces to braze rocket engine thrust chambers and other assemblies where vacuum, explosive and/or inert gas atmospheres are used in production. Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each) 100%- Plan brazing and/or heat treat operations of developmental, prototype and production assemblies in controlled atmospheric brazing furnaces where explosive and inert gasses are used in the atmospheres. Set power and temperature controls, gas flow panels and instrumentation for electric or gas fired furnaces. Adjust switches on temperature control instruments for multiple cycle brazing.
Load assemblies on furnace base and make hookups of thermocouples and pressure lines as required.
Operate auxiliary power equipment to unload furnaces and cool down with cooling muffles. Perform heat treating and/or brazing operation as required.
Operate furnace to heat treat and/or braze assemblies including leak check and purge, instrumentation, heat-up, braze and cool down. Take action when emergency conditions arise during phases of operations to assure safety of personnel and equipment. Over-ride furnace controls by manual operation when necessary.
Requirements High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience in heat treating and brazing operations.
Demonstrated experience working with and around hazardous chemicals including acids.
Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE used with hazardous chemicals.
Experience handling large (500 lbs +) complex hardware with tooling and other handling devices (ie: pallet jacks, cranes, lifting straps, etc).
Experience reading, comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.
