Haccp-Certified Director Of Quality Assurance (Food Manufacturing)
Job Title: Director ofQuality Assurance

Provides assistance to Vice President of Food Safety and Quality Assurance with product specifications, ingredient specifications, customer specifications, new product start up and evaluation, and technical information gathering. Will at times be asked to assist with label approval processes. Will be responsible for filling in on some HACCP responsibilities when needed. Individual will oversee the development of new QA programs and modify current QA programs from raw material receiving through finished goods shipping. Develop and expand QA Technician team as needed. He/she will also work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, VP of Production, VP of Technical Innovation and Culinary Development, Plant Manager-Cooked facility, Director of Food Safety and HACCP & Food Safety Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Assist with the development and implementation of company quality programs (including some involvement in HACCP) and sanitation systems (including SSOPs). Ensure adherence to approved programs to assure product quality and food safety.
· Involved with third party audits.
· Must have very good communication skills and the ability to gain knowledge and understanding about Stampede to properly speak with customers about Stampede’s QA and Food Safety programs.
· Responsible for working with the QA Manager to inputting information and keeping up to date, the Specification Database of all product specifications and QA specification books.
· Responsible for maintaining and keeping Stampede current in the iCiX data base program; main contact and administrator for Wal-Mart ASPECT program; along with any other customer portals for online QA information and communication.
· Distribute new product information and specifications to all appropriate departmental personnel.
· Strong quality review involvement in the initial production runs of new items and the day to day production of current items.
· Maintain quality incident reports and total involvement on follow-up of customer complaints.
· Develop product analysis reports based on QA data when needed.
· Responsible for researching, addressing and answering customer complaints and questions.
· Assist in developing and maintaining product specifications for customers.
· Gather technical information when needed internally or for customers.
· Responsible for ensuring product is pulled, gathered and tested in order to maintain any product testing (i.e. COAs) required by customers.
· Assist with preparing SSOP documentation and addressing USDA issues.
· Conduct shelf life studies and maintain information.
· Develop policies, procedures and quality training programs to be implemented throughout the company.
· Maintain and prepare QA documentation needed for third party audits.
· Perform other duties as required for both cooked and raw facilities.
· Help with the implementation and execution of the ERP system being put in place.
Work closely with the QA Manager and QA Supervisor to supervise and manage the QA Technicians and the Quality Department. Responsible for developing and maintaining the QA Technician staff. Responsible for carrying out indirect supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assisting in performance appraisals; addressing complaints, resolving problems and striving to continuously improve the QA department and QA team, while continuing to develop and grow professionally as a leader.

- Understanding of the USDA-FSIS regulations, label requirements, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and good QA practices, processes and requirements.

Must have good computer skills and a better than average understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. Experience in labeling software is a plus for development labels (Label Matrix or similar) and for executing label approvals with the USDA (EZ Form or similar).
A high level of math skills is required; and the ability to use a calculator to determine percentages, averages and, fractions is necessary. Must adhere to all quality and safety guidelines.
