Department/ section: Our manufacturing organization in Burkville, AL is one of the production facilities of advanced engineering thermoplastics. We are looking for a PAL for the Brine Plant at the Burkville site.
Your responsibilities: Key Role and Champion for the Asset Availability, Asset Reliability and Outage Management Work Processes.Ensures daily and short term operations of a Chlor Alkali plant are optimized to achieve both site and business needs. The role has many aspects of the typical Production Engineering and Reliability Engineering roles integrated within a structured work process culture to advance the EHSS and Reliability performance of the unit.
As such you will: Evaluate Asset Availability data and generate specific reports that identify production performance improvement opportunities to be pursued by other work processes. Provide technical data and analysis to ensure that Long term strategic opportunities are fulfilled Champion and technical expert for root cause culture and RCA process in the unit.
Coach/mentor others on root cause skills. Facilitate formal RCAs. Select, define and schedule analysis of systems critical to business goals; collect relevant data on selected systems.
Lead the criticality review and determine the risk management strategy for key pieces of equipment. Monitor and analyze the maintenance reliability program performance. Establish root cause analysis (RCA) level criteria.
Requirements We are looking for: A dynamic and enthusiastic personality with a minimum of 8 years experience in manufacturing BS Engineering Reqd.
Chemical Engineering degree and chlor-alkali experience are strongly preferred Someone proven to have thorough understanding of unit operations, process equipment and technology. A Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred. Technical expertise in various maintenance disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrument & piping) Someone skilled in statistical tools for data analysis and who can apply probability, statistical, modeling and prediction reliability tools appropriately.
Experience with in depth analysis and structured methodology to identify the true root causes of a situation or event. Skills to evaluate a particular situation or scenario and quantify the probability and consequence of an undesirable event. The ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy.
Solid verbal and written communication skills - able to make relevant information known in a responsive and effective way The ability to apply reliability centered maintenance principles as defined by John Moubray in his book, Reliability-centered Maintenance Eligibility

Primary responsibilities are setting up, cleaning up and operating the Brine Room, Following Recipes, Training, and Providing Suggestions for Continuous Improvement, GMP, and other customer specific programs, including Food Security. Working in the Quality Assurance Lab to ensure quality standards are met and customer satisfaction is achieved. Making bench top samples and pulling stock samples for customer evaluation and shipping samples to labs and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Reduce amount of waste in brine room (excess brine left over at end of run)
- Set up brine room and brine systems
- Complete all needed documentation
- Generate brine recipes using brine calculators
- Follow and make needed brine recipes as per daily schedule, using flow meters and
- Perform product only, brine only and force EQ testing for each recipe to ensure product will be in specification
- Work with production to prioritize workload and then determine which brines will be run on each system. Communicate this information to other brine makers across the shifts.
- Communicate to DTS when new calculators are needed or additional supplies are needed in the brine room.
- Look for and evaluate opportunities for process improvement. Make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in New Product Development as needed
- Notify Purchasing when safety stock levels are at minimums
- Assist with audit preparation
- Pull brine retain samples as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.

High Pressure Plant Tender (Provisional)
Under direct supervision, tends oil, gas or coal fired high-pressure boilers, incinerator furnaces and related equipment, and assists in the maintenance and repair of this equipment; performs related work.
In the Department of Sanitation, under supervision, operates, repairs, alters and maintains boilers, furnaces, pollution control equipment, and other related equipment and appurtenances; performs related work.
Hand fires high-pressure boilers using solid fuels, and stoker equipment and incinerator furnaces using burnable refuse.
