General Helper - Metal Finisher - Polisher
Summary – Stainless Steel and Aluminum Finishing Polisher will be responsible for finishing and polishing aluminum parts, equipment and hardware to high quality standards. Also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as assigned by his or her supervisor.
- Finish or polish SS AL parts using a variety of stationary and portable grinders, files, buffing wheels and sanders.
- Wear appropriate PPE including safety glasses, face shields, gloves, hardhat, dust masks etc.
- Move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.

Orchid Orthopedic Solutions, a worldwide leader in the contract design and manufacture of implants, instruments and innovative technologies for the orthopedic, dental and cardiovascular markets is seeking a Metal Finisher for our Oregon Operation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Use automated finishing equipment to acquire specified finished called-out on engineering drawings.
Use masking equipment to protect parts during manual operations.
Use conventional polishing and belting equipment for the specific belting and/or polishing operations based on the information on engineering drawings.
Use conventional buffing/polishing equipment along with appropriate buffing materials (wheels, compound and machine speed) to acquire specified finishes called-out on engineering drawings.
Use air and/or electric hand held tools for specific grinding, deburring, flapping or detailing an area on a part that is usually confined or the inside diameter of a cylindrical part.
Dimensionally inspects parts using correct inspection equipment & methodology to ensure parts meet dimensional criteria.
Perform or assist in training of personnel as directed by the department supervisor or lead.
Use hand truck, pallet jack, carts and tables to safely transport product.
Maintain work area, tools and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
Maintain parts in work area in an organized and separated condition.
Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material and any unusual conditions to the department supervisor or lead.
Follow designated safety rules and regulations.
Support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to use adjustable measuring instruments.
Basic understanding of interpreting dimensional call-outs, and finish specifications on prints.
Ability to visually detect defects.
Ability to use buffing and polishing lathes.
Ability to use air and/or electric and held tools.
Ability to run automated equipment. * 1 year of experience preferred, willing to train.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Work performed in manufacturing environment where exposure to a number of elements occurs.
Lifting of materials up to 25lbs 8 hours/day. Lifting of materials up to 35lbs 33% of the time. Requires repetitive grasping, fingering, manipulation of materials.
