Our strategic partner in Plymouth, Michigan has an immediate opening to hire a skilled Design Engineer with previous experience with Mold Design. The ideal candidate with be proficient with Catia v5 and experience designing injection molding molds.

Other experience with ProE/Creo or SolidWorks will also be considered.
- Design, verify ,and follow up with tooling for each product
- Design and develop new injection molds and tooling
- Verify, check and buy off molds and tooling
- Improve overall processes and related issues by taking a pro-active lead in Continuous Improvement Activities.
- Program tracking and follow up of new program tooling scheduled.
- Project leader for molds and tools related engineering changes.
- Injection mold and tooling support during on-line troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions
- Communicate with contractors and shops for outside repairs.
- Develop spare parts for injection molds and tool
- Develop injection mold and tool maintenance plan
- Repair injection mold like welding/spotting
- Degree in mechanical engineering or similar. Associate's degree with additional experience may also be considered
- Min 3 years’ experience in injection mold knowledge - mold design/ mold welding/spotting/manifold cleaning
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Stations like Catia is preferredPreferred Education and Experience

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Meet with planner daily to help determine the best set-ups, changeovers, and sequencing direction
Follow the IQMS RT Scheduler mold requirements as determined by the planner. Update the RT Scheduler when finishing
Green-tag readied molds and move to staging area in mold department
Disassemble molds, clean, and inspect for problems
Install changeover parts as required
Take measurements to determine wear and proper sizes of pins, bushings, and hole dimensions
Keep records up to date including mold tagging system
Oversee all 3 shifts of mold prep work and work with the planning department to set up and follow the daily mold prep
Other duties as may be assigned
Practice good housekeeping and appropriate measures to prevent pollution or other negative impacts on the environment

The Role: Xylem seeks to hire a Mold Utility – First Shift. This position is responsible for manually setting sand cores into molds and assembling green sand molds at the AWS-Slaton foundry, typically with the use of lifting devices and hoists. Position requires attention to safety, quality and productivity.
Maintain high safety standards
Assist molders, set required cores, and close over cope mold to drag mold using powered hoist.
Return mold carts to molding line, clamp cope and drag halves together.
Place cope seal, filters and chaplets in molds as required.
Back-up molder when required.
Responsible for housekeeping in the molding area.

Mold Assembly - Weekday Night Shift
Assemble and disassemble injection molds.
Specific Duties Include:
Retrieve molds from warehouse
Assemble molds in accordance with the production schedule and stages for injection molding
Disassemble molds after production is complete and stage for warehouse storage
Transfer molds to the warehouse after production
Transfer molds between manufacturing plants
Organize and files part processing information
Organize the mold storage warehouse for maximum storage capacity
Track inactive molds and allocate them to temporary storage
Monitor molds to be destroyed; remove them from storage
Break down molds to be destroyed and stage salvageable aluminum for recycling
Organize mold component supplies, requisition replacements as needed
Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department
Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization
Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance

Job Description Summary Job Description Summary In accordance with written procedures, and supervisory instructions, the Mold Bar Operator performs necessary duties for manufacturing and checking quality of Mold Bars. This position is for 3rd shift: Hours 9PM-7AM / 4 days per week Justification This is a direct labor job that must be filled to continue to meet production demands.
Essential Functions: Operates CNC, Screw machines, Grinding machines, Riveters, Surface finishing machines, and Buffering machines to manufacture mold pins and assemble mold bars.
Performs routine maintenance of machines including lubrication and changing tooling.
Performs washing and assembly operations. Inspects pin and bar stock, mold pins and assembled bar pins using visual inspection, gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment. Repairs and straightens mold bars.
Packages assembled bars for shipment to customers. Responsible for the quality of mold pins and mold bars, including notifying the Machinist Mechanic Mold of quality or machine problems. Required to perform other duties as needed.
Must be able to work 40 hours a week, which may include weekends, holidays, etc. Must be able to work additional hours/days as business needs dictate. Attendance in the plant site is considered an essential function.
Other Duties: Report any abnormal, unsafe condition, or accidents to Supervisor Must meet expectations on Safety, Attendance, Teamwork, Quality, and Productivity metrics. Required: High school graduate Lift, push, pull, objects up to 25 lbs.

Rubber Injection Mold Technician (2015440)
Performs a variety of functions in the gate valve area including, but not limited to, receiving/shipping transporting various types of gate valves, inspecting gate valves, unloading the gate valves from dunage, load gate valves into wash system baskets, cycle wash system, unloading gate valves from wash system baskets, load clean valves into spray booth, spray valves with required bonding adhesives, unload spray booth, load and unload drying carts, load and unload preheat oven, load and unload core bars, load and unload molds, clean molds, load and unload center section of mold, load and unload rubber for injection machine, load and unload trim fixture, trim flash, epoxy chaplet holes, load and unload part articulator, load and label shipping containers.
Setup and operate all cell equipment. (fork lift, hoist, wash system, spray equipment, preheat oven, core bar extractor, injection press, epoxy dispensing, trimming and mold cleaning equipment)
Assures quality of degreasing and bonding agent mixes by performing routine tests and make adjustment as required.
Assures that non-conforming products do not enter the manufacturing sequence.
Performs material handling as is necessary to complete work.
Adjusts and operates wash system to obtain clean, preheated valves.
Adjusts and operates spray equipment and hand spray guns to coat gate valves with specified types of bonding agent.
Applies various applications of bonding agents in a first coat, then second coat sequence.
Applications of bonding agent must be applied evenly so as to assure proper rubber bonding.
Maintains mixed batches of bonding agent through the use of air powered mixers.
Keeps abreast of molding schedules so as to maintain an available supply of coated valves of desired size at all times.
Maintains wash system, fixtures, spray equipment, injection machine, preheat oven, core bar extractor, molding area, storage area and surrounding area in clean condition, which include the changing of filters and protective paper in spray booth and the cleaning and repairing of spray guns and equipment.
Setup and maintains rubber injection encapsulation process through computer controlled variables.
Assures proper scheduling and flow for gate valve processing.
Maintains all paperwork associated with the areas inventory, receipt and processing of gate valves and related products.

Mold Maker Main Duties/
Responsible for all aspects of too/mold design, new product development, and production of parts, jigs, and fixtures.
Performs repairs, set-up, and trouble- shooting of molds and dies; following prints and other written and verbal specifications.

Operating, monitoring and maintaining the production line.
Responsible for overall maintaining of a production line, including starting and stopping of some equipment (palletizers, carton makers, carton sealers, drop packers). No mechanical work is performed without prior approval.
