Working as a Bindery Operator, you would set up, adjust and operate all relevant bindery equipment such as: MBO folders with pile and continuous feeders; Heidelberg/Stahl Folders with continuous feeders; and 6 pocket Muller Martini-Presto saddle stitchers to produce quality finished products that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
You would also have the following job duties and responsibilities;
Access the batching system to view batch lists and identify priority jobs to be completed.
Review job tickets and plan work processes to meet customer specifications for custom jobs
Make machine (s) ready, set up assigned machines to specifications and run products as required
Quality control of completed jobs, providing updates on job status and schedule to the supervisor
Make adjustments as needed to maintain specifications and timely flow of materials
Monitor assigned machine during run to ensure machines are maintaining the proper requirements
Unload machine and stack materials on pallets
Ensure the completion of jobs meeting quality and quantity requirements
Troubleshoot machine problems, resolve if possible, notifying Floor Supervisor
Maintain proper machine maintenance and lubrication
Remove waste items for recycling
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc…
Ensure all equipment, tools, and work station are in good working order and is free of safety hazards
Report any and all workplace hazards, work related injuries, illnesses, and/or near misses to management immediately
Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
Keep all work areas/work stations in compliance with our housekeeping guidelines
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations

Destruction Technicians serve customers by accurately processing and destroying all materials delivered to the production facility. They sort material and operate forklifts and other machinery. The machine operator will be running various sizes of wires off of a spool and run it through a machine for inspection. The machine operator will set up and operate a machine to produce product at a high rate of production while maintaining quality standards. You may run multiple machines at the same time. Associates will then use wire cutters to cut defects and log what the defect was and how much was cut.
- Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) on various units of measures.

Tie -In Machine Operator I
What Machine Operation contributes to Cardinal Health
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications
Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup
Uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments
Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds
Measures, marks, and scribe's dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining
Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Help maintain high departmental efficiency by tying in warps in an efficient manner while maintaining the quality of the warp.
The tie-in operator also assists with other positions in the department.
Perform any or all of the following functions as assigned:
Must observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. Will be responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions. Must attend all monthly scheduled Safety Meetings.
Straighten loose ends prior to tying new warp. Ensures that all ends are in lease and straight at completion of warp tie-in procedure with no cotton or other material propped under drop wires.
Remove bat and put aside until new warp is tied.
Check all selvages before leasing out. Remove all doubles in cloth ,if any before tying warp.
Brush out old warp and make sure all ends are straight. Put in comb and put rubber band on each end of comb and secure with waste string in middle of comb.
Run lease under yarn, loosen nut with wrench, pull warp out of gear, roll empty warp out on loom support brace each one time, cut loose, brush ends well, pull comb back to lease stuck and roll up to drop wires. Take clamp, lay on whip roll, pull yarn off to make sure warp ends are straight, cut tails off new warp, throw over whip roll, bring back under warp, put clamp in warp ends, cut off excessive yarn, and put across warp.
Secures tie in machine frame, pushes to loom, set in place, pull yarn over frame from new warp until tape comes over tie in frame, put warp ends and pull over to brush. Take second clamp down, take two clamps from frame and lay on top of other clamps, pull pattern ends over frame and clamp down. Take clamp off, comb clean, lay back on frame, set tension on arm, turn four bars up so frame will move. Pull pin out, loosen tension on warp, place machine in frame and start.
Operator must stay with tie in machine until warp is tied. Place tie in machine back in box.
Remove all clamps and put on frame.
Start loom and run knots through drop wires through reed. Start loom and make sure warp is straight.
Number of crossed ends allowed is zero.
Put all thread waste in waste buggy.
Assist in repairing breakouts of seven or more.
Assist in repairing smashes of seven or more ends.
Follow all safety rules, plant rules, department rules and implement total quality in his/her area of responsibility.
One Operator is required to smash when warp out is 8 or less warps for the shift
Participate in Plant Corrective Action Team Program.
Participate in Plant Safety Program.
Report all unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks
Readily learns and applies additional information and methods to work in assigned area

Proven ability to cut material from standard patterns and to neatly construct, repair and mend linens and articles of clothing.
Demonstrated ability to clean, oil and make minor adjustments to sewing machines
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Education and/or experience in sewing that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to a least six months of experience in a commercial or institution sewing,
completion of a sewing course;
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
