The Automated Sewing Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining automated sewing equipment and maintaining, cleaning and handling rolls and labels. The Automated Sewing Machine Operator will be operating or tending sewing machines to join, reinforce, decorate or perform sewing-related tasks.
Monitor machine operation (including wear and tear of moving parts)

Position Title: Operator Sewing Machine 1
Reports to: Production Manager or Assigned Supervisor
Location: Sauk Rapids, MN
Sewer operates equipment to join pre-cut materials, attach or insert components using: various mechanical equipment, electronically controlled single or multi-needle sewing machines; other equipment. Typically, materials being sewn together have not had other sewing operations performed where sewing tolerances have been altered. Sewer will also inspect and package various products produced and/or distributed by the company.
Operates single, multiple-needle, or automatic machines to join pre-cut materials, and/or attach zippers to other hardware.
Starts and stops and controls speed of machine with controls and guides parts under needle following edges, seams or markings on pre-cut materials.
Monitors stitching to detect defects to insure acceptable quality.
Selects thread and other components according to bill of material.
Thread machine, winds and changes the bobbin.
Cuts excessive material or thread with scissors / nippers when necessary.
Routinely check fabric for defects, runs, stains, missed stitches. Performs repairs on defected merchandise as needed.
Performs required daily machine maintenance and adjustment. Includes but is not limited to adjusting thread tension, dusting machine, wipe off oil, adjust stitches per inch.
Notifies sewing machine repair person when experiencing problems with machine.
May be required to turn garments right side out, preparing garment for inspection, folding and packaging.
Completes required documentation including but not limited to recording production quantities, downtime, scrap, traceability, component usage
Responsible for injury prevention and promoting safety by keeping work area neat, clean and organized.
Participates in employee wellness and exercise program.
Performs miscellaneous other assignments as required.
Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as listed above between the assigned start and end times for work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit and or stand for extended periods of time. High School diploma or equivalent.
1 to 3 years minimum experience as a sewing machine operator. Satisfactory completion of a sewing class, either at Phoenix or elsewhere may be substituted for experience. Ability to operate both a double needle and single needle machine.
Must have visual acuity, depth perception, accurate color vision, and field of vision within normal range. Must be able to lift up to 5lbs an average of 20 times per day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.
Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Cross trains and assist Helpers, Stackers, and Bundlers with job duties on the machine.
Cross-train on other machines.
Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,
Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
