Basic Function/Job Overview:
The Cabinet Assembler position builds cabinets, casework and millwork including installation of hardware in cabinets, and hanging and installation of cabinets and drawers. This position also assists with cut outs and builds any specialty items required for jobs. This position is also responsible for reading and following blueprints and work instructions. This position is also responsible for ensuring that proper materials are used for a job and that the finished product meets Company quality standards and job specifications.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Build cabinets, including but not limited to, installation of hardware and specialty items, and puttying and sanding, as well as adjusting drawers and doors to ensure proper specifications, quality and operational standards are met.
Build specialty items required for a job.
Cut out cabinets as required.
Laminate, clean and paint cabinets as assigned or needed to meet production schedule
Monitor manufacturing specifications in blueprint-type documents to ensure that proper materials are used for job orders and meets company quality standards and that products meet design and engineering specifications.Maintain accurate records of materials used for job orders and organize cabinets efficiently and safely in the manufacturing plant.
Apply 5S concepts to all aspects of job
Complete productivity reports and other documentation as required.
Complete other duties as assigned.
This position requires the ability to use hands to operate power and hand cutout and cabinet manufacturing tools, including but not limited to table saw, cut off saw, nail gun and wide belt sander. This position requires the ability to focus on details and quality standards. This position requires ability to think, read, see, talk, and hear in English. Ability to stand, sit, stoop and move from location to location is required. This position requires the ability to regularly lift and/or move items from ten (10) pounds to 150 pounds. The ability to read and understand shop drawings and blueprints and use a tape measure (in English is required). This position requires the ability to work in an enclosed woodworking manufacturing environment which is heated and cooled depending on the weather, but may not always have an optimal temperature. This position also requires the ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines. Also required to maintain a work area that is sorted, swept and straightened each day.
Required Knowledge and

The Cabinet Maker sets up and operates a variety of woodworking machines and uses various tools to fabricate and repair wooden Cabinets and high-grade furniture. Responsible for the construction and maintenance of cabinets, tables, shelves, desks, bookcases, bulletin boards, chairs, and other wooden equipment and fixtures. The Cabinet Maker studies blueprints or shop drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and plans sequence of cutting, shaping operations to be performed. All work is inspected for quality, compliance, SSM specifications and instructions.
Essential Functions and
Marks outline or dimensions of parts on paper or stock according to blueprints or drawing specifications
Ensures material match for color, grain or texture
Sets up and operate woodworking machines (power saws, joiner, mortise, tenoner, molder, shaper, etc) to cut and shape parts
Lays out material, machinery, and assembly requirements
Studies blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed
Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit using hand tools, planes, chisels, wood files, etc.
Bored holes for insertion screws or dowels by hand or using boring machines
Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or clamp machine
Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints
Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing
Installs hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls
May fabricate special or corresponding wooden parts and components
Inspects equipment and tools for wear and tear, reporting condition found to supervisory personnel
Ensures quality of craftsmanship at all times

Perform basic furniture construction with professionalism and respect to the finishing process; in preparation for the finishing shop.
Perform quality repair on all types of furniture to include desks, cabinets, chairs, sofas, etc. in the shop and onsite.

High school diploma/GED. Two (2) years experience in wood finishing. Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Basic knowledge of cabinet finishing processes and products.
Under general supervision, prepares and applies finishes to aircraft furniture using aircraft specifications, designs and engineering drawings with a high level of safety, quality, detail and productivity. Assists team members with greater experience to enhance techniques supportive of quality workmanship.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Works under general supervision to prepare furniture for finish and disassembly using blueprints, aircraft specifications and design/engineering drawings. 2.
Performs high quality repairs to various finished surfaces in the shop and aboard aircraft. Cleans and polishes blemishes as needed to prepare the aircraft for delivery. Applies finish to furniture using spray equipment and other manual/mechanical methods. 3.
Uses various types of sandpapers, polishes, adhesives, masking mediums, solvents, finish materials, hand tools and various power tools to disassemble and finish furniture. 4. Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protective equipment to protect aircraft interior (PTP). 5. Uses the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-off work.
Additional Functions: 1. Works with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety, reduce, cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma and other process improvement techniques. 2.
