Utilizes artistic talents to create beautiful and uniquely decorated bakery items.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tops, finishes, and decorates prepared bakery products such as bars, pies, cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, cakes, etc.
Increases sales by creating visually appealing products
Exceeds guest expectations by providing beautiful, creative, and uniquely decorated special orders that follow the guests' specific requests
Reduces shrink through minimizing mistakes and using the appropriate quantity of icing and other supplies
Fills, rotates, and removes decorated products from the sales floor and service case
Identifies which products are at an unacceptable stock level and replenishes them with available supply
Plans production tasks to ensure an adequate supply of back stock is available to fill the sales floor and service case as products are sold

Ensure that all appropriate Fresh Foods products are properly refrigerated. Check temperatures of product, cases, and coolers according to standards.
Keep Our Shelves Properly Stocked. Stock and block product according to standards and in a manner that maximizes sales and minimizes shrink. Work backstock on a regular basis. Process close-dated and damaged product according to standards.
Check merchandising displays regularly to ensure the availability of advertised items and/or samples. Prepare, display, and offer daily samples according to standards.
Inform management of the lack of advertised items and/or samples, incorrect prices, missing signs, departmental changes, and/or other situations as appropriate.
Unload product from truck and place in coolers according to Fresh Foods Receiving and Rotation standards; load salvage on truck as required. Remove products from storage.
Keep Our Stores Clean. Comply with Health Department and Department of Agriculture [Weights & Measures] standards, regulations, and requirements. Follow Harris Teeter sanitation standards and procedures. Clean and sanitize prep room and coolers as appropriate. Keep counters and food contact surfaces clean at all times, refrigerator glass & windows wiped, floors swept and mopped, garbage emptied, displays well merchandised and neat.

Ensures all potentially hazardous foods are maintained under the appropriate ambient temperatures
Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet guest needs and to build department sales
Stocks cakes, cleans shelves, and cleans shelf tag maintenance as needed when stocking and rotating products

Assist with the production of all mandatory bakery products (i.e. parfaits, bars, cupcakes, etc.).
Produce in-house products to daily par levels, as specified on the production sheets.
Complete production and spoilage records; adjust production sheets to maintain sufficient product.
Prepare, package, weigh, and price bakery products for sale.
Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation or product.
Provide outstanding customer service; ensure customer needs are met in a timely fashion.
Follow department procedures for preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking of product.
Maintain a clean and well organized work area.
Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.

A Cake Decorator is a skilled position in the Bakery Department. Primary responsibilities for a Cake Decorator will include decorating cookies, cakes and pastries, creating appealing display cases, packaging bakery product, and operating, cleaning and maintaining cake-decorating equipment. The Cake Decorator will also consult with customers to identify needs and take orders.
CAKE DECORATOR DUTIES
1.Working with customers to identify the product and decoration that best meets the need for their event.
2.Decorating cookies, cakes and pastries in a visually pleasing manner.
3.Creating display cases that provide easy access for customers and also ensures product is rotated to avoid sale of stale items.
4.Working with customers at the bakery counter and following up by labeling and packaging any sold bakery items.
5.Stocking necessary ingredients and notifying manager or items needing reordered.
6.Maintaining current knowledge of of all government health, safety and sanitation regulations.
7.Operate, clean and maintain all cake decorating equipment (such as air brushes).
1.Due to the high volume of customer interactions, applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
2.Must be able to tolerate some physical requirements listed in a full job description including, but not limited to, long periods of standing and walking, repeated lifting, squatting, bending and reaching, and other requirements.
3.Must maintain a professional, courteous demeanor when addressing customer concerns and able to follow through to the best possible resolution.
4.Candidates should have great multi-tasking skills and be able to function well in a fast-paced environment.
5.One year previous experience decorating cakes and/or pastries in a retail or other professional setting required.
