Remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process products from discharge unit of printing press or adhesives coating equipment. Review signatures for smearing, register issues, bad folds, etc and notify the Pressroom.
Remove folded signatures from web press and place signatures on pallet or skid for removal to warehouse or binding areas. May adjust stacking mechanism on press according to paper dimensions. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, carts and trays.
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher. May occasionally operate automated equipment and/or industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Basic knowledge of general warehouse layout, item identification codes, basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and familiarity with the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull paper stock, signatures and materials in accordance with standard procedures. Able to stock, move, jog, arrange, unload, count and rotate items on/off printing press equipment in accordance with operating instructions or under guidance of a press operator or supervisor.
May require knowledge of operation of automatic counters and tabulate counts for jobs. Able to complete appropriate forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials. Basic skill in the use of manual dollies, carts or hand trucks and hand tools used in material handling tasks such as hammers, pliers, strapping and stretch wrapping tools and equipment, tape fasteners, metal band sheers and related equipment.
Previous experience as a roll tender or press helper/jogger in a commercial print operation preferred.

Provide basic assistance as needed to assist printing press operators with make-ready of flexo or litho printing presses for operation. Assist with retrieving plates, hanging plates and recycling/storing plates and other tasks associated with make-ready of the plates.
Ensure paper or raw materials (inks, glues, etc.) are loaded into feeders, hoppers, bins, etc. to supply a constant flow of materials while the equipment is running. Make adjustments to equipment such as feeder mechanism based on the size of the paper. Deliver equipment components such as plates or spray heads to the equipment for installation.
Recycle old/discarded plates. Drive forklift truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move materials in warehouse or factory.
Requires basic knowledge of presswork procedures and materials learned through on the job training. Ability to follow instructions to assist in press set up, operation and maintenance.
Able to operate hand carts, pallet jacks, stackers and hydraulic feed mechanisms. Preferred skills in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift or clamp truck through aisles in building; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls. OTJ training provided and certification required.
Attendance: Punctual, regular attendance is an essential job function of employment with RR Donnelley.
Overtime, including weekend work, is considered a condition of employment. Flexibility to work any shift is required.

The Press Helper is responsible for performing the required tasks in support of the Flexographic
Press Operator during press operations including but not limited to; maintaining ink levelsviscosity,

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

Printing/Laminating process as well as a detail understanding of the equipment, tools, and safe

Assist the Press Operator as required with changing cylinders (Anilox, Rollers, Sleeves);
press set-up and make-readys (sumps, pumps) and web breaks.
Performs tasks associated with Operation Clean Machine (OCM) – change seals, clean
Doctor Blade chambers, clean Bellows and replace Doctor Blades.
Participates in Autonomous Management program. Performs basic preventative and
autonomous tasks (clean, inspect, lubricate).

Responsible for setting up and operating of flexographic printing press to produce final printed product that meets quality expectations and production efficiencies as set forth by the customer and the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Set up and operates flexographic printing press to print graphics on rolls of customer specified material by performing the following duties:
Pressman reads entire job ticket for information required for the set up and running of job.
Retrieve all necessary components (print cylinders and dies) from the press ready table.
Retrieve necessary inks from the ink vault.
Mount proper anilox, plate cylinders and dies to print stations.
fills ink fountains with proper ink.
When work is sheeted or slit set up the mechanical of either set up.
Start press and progressively register plates on press.
Register the die to the print.
Check printed copy against the approved sample proof for the job.
