The calender operator will function as part of a team to meet production goals. This position will communicate production issues and take direction from the department supervisor on a daily basis.
Set up and monitor all manufacturing parameters relating to the safe, efficient production of solid silicone.
Perform and record all in-process inspection/testing relating to maintaining product traceability and run documentation.
Assure that a sufficient quantity of raw material base is available to meet daily production demands.
Communicate with various departments such as quality, shipping and value added relative to product quality issues and availability of material for further processing or shipping.
Participate in the training of new employees.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Hours of work and days vary by shift.
Employees are expected to work 8 - 12 hours per shift, in accordance with their assigned shift. As dictated by business needs, ability to work overtime and maintain flexibility with work schedule may be required.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The operator must be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time (8 to 12-hour shifts) and be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. routinely. This position involves bending, stooping, standing and walking on a regular basis throughout the duration of the shift. The employee is frequently required to use hands, arms and fingers to reach, lift, pull, push and move materials with or without use of a material handling cart, as required.

- Take raw materials from the warehouse, load onto elevator and send them to the upstairs area.
- Take empty pallets of pans to banbury extruder as required.
- Move rubber from banburys to the warehouse or mass mills.
- Take raw materials to mass mills as required.
- Take adhesives from mass mills to calenders or the warehouse.
- Take raw materials and other supplies to calenders as needed.
- Bring empty boxes and other supplies to the 3D-banbury extruder as needed.
- Move chips/pre-blends from the 3D- banbury extruder to a trailer or the warehouse as needed.
- Keep the warehouse and warehouse racks neat, clean, orderly and organized.
- Ensure that all raw material, adhesive and rubber have proper identification before moving them from a work area or storage area.
- Coordinate activities with machine operators, compounders, material handlers and mass tenders to ensure that all machinery is supplied in a proper and timely manner.
- Inform supervisors of any problems with materials or products such as off color material and misidentified or unidentified material.
- Inform supervisor of material shortages and pan shortages.
- Load and unload material from trailers as needed.
- Set up mass mills (properly "spot" needed materials and supplies).
- Consolidate materials in the warehouse.
- Prioritize tasks to keep all machines operating.
- Move materials or products as needed.
- Follow all fork truck safety rules such as blowing horns at aisle intersection and doorways and look behind before backing up.
- Perform other tasks as required and directed.

Operator Helper - Equipment Operator
Under supervision, perform semi-skilled manual work in connection with an entry level position in power plant operation. Assist equipment operators while learning the following job duties:
Isolate, clean, open, replace, inspect, close and return to service plant equipment. Isolate equipment and place/remove clearance tags in the plant and switchyard. Operate, regulate, adjust, clean and perform minor maintenance on plant auxiliary systems.
Monitor and inspect all plant equipment for normal operation. Identify and report abnormal conditions to the proper authority and write work orders. Operate, clean, service and lubricate portable power driven tools and equipment.
Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Utilize portable meters, analyzers and equipment to conduct tests and monitoring. Lubricate and check lubrication equipment; adjust packing glands as necessary and perform necessary operative maintenance, using appropriate hand tools.
Operate oil filtering equipment. Erect and remove simple scaffolding and rigging. Perform routine cleaning of plant areas and equipment, including outside areas, as assigned.
Load, unload, move and handle materials, supplies and equipment; open boxes, barrels, bags and other materials using material handling equipment.
Monitor water chemistry as required. Maintain water pH and follow EPA guidelines as applicable.
Assist in preparing boilers and auxiliaries for operation and removal from service. If applicable, monitor coal feed to mills and burners and observe conditions of fires and furnaces. Hand lance slag in boilers, hand- operating soot blowers, unplugging ash lines, disposing of clinkers and other similar work.
Use flow diagrams to identify system piping and equipment and revise these prints as required. Make required equipment checks and assist in performing tests and preparing related reports, graphs and curves. Perform duties in accordance with Company's safety rules, operating regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
Train for and carry out assignments in firefighting, first aid and other emergency response programs as required. Perform other job duties as assigned.
