Job Description:
Quad is currently seeking a Press Assistant I/Roll Tender to work in the Charlotte, NC Retail Plant. As a member of the press crew, the Press Assistant I (Roll Tender) has previous experience as a Press Asst. II (stacker/jogger) and is able to perform the duties of both positions and may be asked to do so from time to time. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Understanding standard operating procedures of the department
Manage the paper supply inventory on the press and feed rolls into the press
Coordinate plates and tickets for upcoming jobs and hang paper according to job tickets
Set up and make splices, bend and hang plates as well as hang blankets and assist with webbing up press
Ensure correct ink is available for job and check ink fountains regularly
Set fold during make-readies and check trim sheets to proof and complete necessary roll reports and paperwork accurately
Communicate effectively with plate room and paper warehouse and coordinate changing of ink, etch, and silicone totes as needed
Wash up the press and assist with preventative maintenance.
Qualifications
Candidates must have prior press experience as Press Assistant II (Jogger)
Strong mechanical abilities and knowledge of presses and roll stands and the ability to perform basic math calculations are essential.
Good verbal and written comprehension skills are a must.
Must be able to thrive in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision.
This position also requires the ability to bend and lift 50 pounds continuously, ability to lift up to 90 pounds occasionally, stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously and use vision in order to identify defects, performing repetitious tasks in a fast-paced atmosphere with or without a reasonable accommodation.

We will be hiring for the following position soon. This is a seasonal job that will last about 3 months. Candidates must be able to work all shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
.Must be mechanically inclined
·Operate and maintain cutting table during a shift. This will include changing out the paper and toner.
·Complete scheduled maintenance on cutting table during shift.
·Load/Unload material from cutting table.
·Quality checks every job (cover or commercial work) that comes off the cutting table.
·Be able to operate hand jack to move skids.

BUSINESS CONTRIBUTION:
Safely set up and cut blanks used to make lawn mower blades. The position requires following and maintaining given specifications throughout this process to produce high quality products for our customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Set-up and Operate Ultra High Volume (UHV) Press
Perform progressive die and press operations, including setup and removing tooling, troubleshooting and light maintenance of machinery, equipment and tools
Monitoring equipment/tooling during production stamping to ensure it is working properly, watching gages, dials, and other indicators
Performing quality checks according to documentation
Operation of computer systems to input production and test data
Train other operators as needed
Physically load and unload parts manually or using proper material handling equipment and techniques
Removing and/or installing dies; setting dies to match sample and specifications
Loading steel into die or change coiled steel roll as necessary
Locate, read, and understand quality documentation
Complete paperwork for documentation purposes as needed
Understand and maintain relationships in the Manufacturing Department
Assist in keeping machines running, including working in other departments as directed
Follow departmental safety requirements
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or nationally recognized accredited equivalent required
Machine Technology courses preferred
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Previous experience as a metal stamping press operator in a high volume, fast paced manufacturing environment is preferred
A minimum of one year of experience in a very similar work environment, i.e. assembly, production, manufacturing and in the following areas:
Controlling machine and processes by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
Handling and moving objects by using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials and manipulating things
Communicating with supervisors or peers to provide information to supervisors or coworkers by telephone, in written form, or in person
Inspecting equipment or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects

The Sioux City Journal is currently looking for a full-time lead press operator/supervisor to work on a 14 unit Goss Urbanite press. Duties include paper handling, color registration and reproduction, set up of press, daily maintenance and repair of the press, and shift supervisor duties. This is a 3rd shift position including weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties:
- Setup and document tooling and safe practices for Press Brake operations
- Verify accuracy of machine settings to confirm accurate tolerances and machine functions
- Maintain accurate parts
- Maintain cleanliness of the machine
- Perform in-process checks to maintain all required tolerances and quality
- Complete all required safety procedures prior to and during operation
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
