Calibration Laboratory Technician

• Perform load cell calibrations on new/RMA product insuring that the instruments meet manufacturing standards and customer specifications.

Education and/or Experience: • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent degree is required. A two-year technical degree (ASME) or equivalent degree from an accredited technical institution is a plus. Demonstrable equivalent experience in the instrumentation discipline or a related field will be considered. • One to three years of related experience in an instrumentation laboratory is preferred.

The Standards and Calibration Engineering Laboratory (S&CL) maintains measurement standards for physical properties other than dimensional measurement. Included are electrical-electronic, pressure, force, gas and liquid flow, temperature, humidity, time, frequency, vibration, acoustic measurement and gas monitors. Also included are items of dimensional measurement having electronic readouts and/or interfaces. The S&CL assures that Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE) is accurate, capable, and reliable; and that all measurements are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), another National Lab, or to a recognized physical standard.

Ability to source parts and complete repairs in a timely manner.
As related to the field of Metrology, perform electrical, electronic, RF/uWave, fiber optic, physical, and mechanical calibrations. Provide repair services for analog and digital type instruments.
Provide electrical and mechanical support to engineering labs and engineers. Provide technical support to engineers working in primary areas such as manufacturing and product test; and perform in one or a combination of these primary responsibilities. Apply technical skills in hardware, software, and systems to assist engineers in support of production, program management, and maintenance of that equipment.
Effectively use various computers, software, and both general and specific M&TE as required in performance of assigned duties. The calibration library technician tests, calibrates and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards by performing the following duties.
