JOB TITLE: Camera Operator - KTLA DEPARTMENT:
Engineering REPORTS TO: Manager, Broadcast Operations Camera Operator (Engineer) Basic operation, setup, and cabling of the cameras including but not limited to: properly plugging in fiber cable; smoothly zooming, panning, and tilting; viewfinder operation including setting markers, viewing effects. Operator must have ability to follow instructions from News Director regarding various shot selections required for the broadcast; be attentive through the entire show; set the scripted shots in a timely manner; react quickly to last minute changes and direction.
Have the ability to quickly move the camera and pedestal to a new position, focus and set the shot. The operator must also be able to stand operating the camera for an extended period of time, due to the length of the production, before getting a break. Must be able lift, carry, and operate a hand held camera.
This includes but is not limited to: properly framing shots; be able to provide a variety of shots (low, high, etc.); holding focus while moving; filter selection. The current weight of the pedestal and camera rig used at KTLA is 200lbs. Flexible schedule; Vacation/sick/holiday relief (may have to work weekends, holidays). Must be willing to submit to a background check and have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
