Established, growing, marine canvas shop in southern New Jersey is looking for a motivated individual to fill a full time management position. Must be experienced in patterning and installation of canvas and upholstery projects. Responsibilities include estimating and selling projects to customers, patterning and installation of jobs, and directing sewing schedule.

Stretching canvas at Marco Fine Arts is a culture of quality with a perfect blend of efficiency. In the canvas department you will be asked to measure and hand stretch canvases in a timely manner while maintaining quality. To do so you will be given certain tools and measuring utensils. To complete your assignments. You will be on your feet 8 hours plus and use your hands to grip, keep in place staple and stretch the canvases. Sizes do very so leaning MFA techniques and tricks save time so ask questions.

Responsibilities As a FABRIC WORKER
, WG-3105-9, you will: * Fabricates canvas covers, tarpaulins, and other canvas and leather items that are difficult to plan, lay out, construct, and fit because of figure irregularities, uncommon shapes and sizes, unusual designs, or intricately constructed parts. Measures area, objects, or machinery that canvas is to be installed on.
Sketches pattern of item to be fabricated on heavy paper or cloth, laying out work, as necessary, circles, angles, curves and irregular shapes. Cuts out patterns and all parts of the item determining thickness and gauge of material needed. Sews/bonds parts of canvas, leather, and synthetic materials together.
Replaces hardware on canvas and webbing. Attaches tack buttons by clinching tack and buttons to material with hammer and wood block or by fastening with tack-button machine.
Prepares and circular-stitches iron rings. Inserts brass grommets using die set, lead block, hollow steel cutter and punch, fastener anvil, riveting hammer, and wood mallet. Inserts eyelets, attaches tabular or belt rivets to canvas and webbing items, installs tent slips, and attaches other types of hardware to canvas equipage and tentage slips by clasps.
Punches holes and inserts grommets into materials using a grommet machine. Cuts out and attaches various types of billets to canvas equipment. Affixes rolled end, angled short end, and wide webbing straps.
Fabricates stitched grip and rope reinforced strap handles. Replaces damaged parts on suspenders.
Repairs worn or damaged leather equipment and attachments. Hand sews leather-using saddler's stitch or running stitch; using tools such as stitch maker, awl, fid, and needles.
Machine sews items made of soft leather. Fastens pieces of leather together and joins edges for desired appearance. Finishes edges and surface of leather to include replacing missing or damaged buckles.
Repairs or replaces upholstery on tactical, commercial, and combat vehicles and equipment. Examines vehicle to determine extent of repair.
Removes upholstery from seat assemblies. Repairs or replaces defective seat parts such as frames, springs, and padding. Measures, cuts, sews, and/or bonds new covering using tools of the trade.
Installs and secures interior trim such as doors and cowl panels, armrests, metal trim, and door and window handles. Cuts out and installs new floor mats, carpeting, and weather stripping.
Cleans, maintains, and makes necessary adjustments to tools and power sewing machines used.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions Assist Journey Level Technicians with routine maintenance repairs and Preventive Maintenance work to equipment and systems. Performs maintenance duties on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems, including lubricating components, changing filters, cleaning and flushing coils, cleaning drain pans and drains, replacing belts and pulleys, checking and recording pressure, temperature, and flow readings. Prepares surfaces for painting, paints, cleans equipment.
Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met. Generates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work. Keep accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to efficiently complete work and document details of the functions performed.
Assists with organizing and cleaning tasks. Semi-skilled level repairs, maintenance and inspections on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. Driving a UT vehicle is required for this function and others.
Performs duties such as changing faucets and shower heads, installing flush valve repair kits on urinals and commodes. Performs basic electrical tasks such as the replacement of bulbs and ballasts. Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License.
Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Marginal/Incidental functions Other related functions as assigned.
Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157, Section 5.4. Required qualifications High school graduation or GED.
Three years of experience in performing installation, maintenance and or repair work in a field related to the work to performed. Current Class "C" Operator Driver License required. Prior to date of hire, applicant selected must provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) showing a driving history going back 36 months.
This includes all states resided in for the past 36 months. MVR will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a University-owned vehicle. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree or above in a technical field. Completion of vocational trade or apprentice program in one or more journeyman trades.
More than three years of experience in performing installation, maintenance and or repair work in a field related to the work to be performed. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Demonstrated customer service skills. Successful completion of Facilities Services Leader Development Program.
