This position is responsible for following approved procedures, for the start-up, shutdown, normal operations, monitoring, servicing, and maintenance of all equipment and systems at the Coal Generating Facility. Must be familiar with emergency procedures to follow during periods of abnormal operation.
Accountable for knowing and adhering to all location safety procedures including red tagging and personal protective equipment. Performs maintenance of plant equipment; troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates equipment. Position must monitor equipment performance through test, analysis, and report variances.
Responsibilities•Check and monitor plant equipment and systems daily to ensure proper operation and detect problems as they occur. This includes checking oil levels, pressures, temperatures, flows, unusual noises, vibration, overheating, leaks, cleanliness, etc.•Responsible for startup, normal operation and shutdown of all major and auxiliary equipment and systems in the plant following approved operating procedures.•Understand equipment operating principles, operating parameters, interlocks, alarms, and how the equipment functions within its respective system.•Perform basic maintenance on equipment such as changing oil, greasing, changing filters, filtering oil, cleaning (e.g. nozzles, water boxes, strainers, etc.) adjusting packing, etc.•Understand the purpose and function of the equipment and systems in the plant.•Able to line up systems for various modes of operation (e.g. startup, shutdown, emergency, etc.)•Utilize necessary equipment to remove wastes from the plant (e.g. pyrites, bottom ash, fly ash, waste oil, water box debris, etc.)•Must be familiar with emergency procedures to follow during periods of abnormal operation.•Isolate and lock out/tag out equipment for maintenance.•Troubleshoot equipment/system problems and fix if possible. Originate work requests for those problems that cannot be resolved by operations.•Inspect equipment and be able to identify problems.•Maintain accurate logs and records associated with the operation of auxiliary equipment, incident reports, shift logs, checklists, etc.•Work safely and effectively in a team environment.•Learn basic skills in other craft areas such as mechanical, electrical & I&C.•Serve as a member of station emergency response teams, (Fire Brigade, Confined Space, Rescue, Hazmat, and First Responder).•Adhere to all station safety and environmental programs and procedures.•Ability to operate station vehicles such as forklifts, tractors, lulls and trucks.

Position Summary Maintains chemical process equipment for the production of graphite foil, maintains adequate chemical inventories, and conducts hazardous waste disposal by performing the following duties. #CB1
Key Accountabilities * Oversees and/or assists in the unloading of environmental and production related chemicals.
Observes gages and conducts hourly readings of pH, flows, pressures, and temperatures and documents readings in a log book of daily activities.
Monitors the performance of and makes adjustments to scrubber room equipment.
Continuously monitors and maintains the chemical balance needed for fume scrubbing process.
Monitors and maintains required flows of chemicals being injected into the foil process.
Changes particulate filter bags as needed.
Conducts calibration of pH probes on a set schedule and when suspect to faulty indication.
Maintains accurate inventory of chemicals needed for production process, including ordering chemicals when needed.
Schedules hazardous waste water disposal.
Conducts shift turnover to discuss work orders in process, completed, and other production related information.
Provides immediate assistance in the event of hazardous chemical spill, identifies pollutant, and requests appropriate cleanup/containment assistance.
Assists on job changes in foil line area.
Operates regrind system if need.
Perform any other duties, as required by the department supervisor or manager, to support department, plant and company objectives and/or goals

Role: The Car Mechanic Apprentice (Carman) inspects, maintains, builds, repairs and rebuilds railway freight cars and equipment in accordance with federal and company regulations.
