Temporary Grinder I - (Rw11209)
Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking a Temporary Grinder I trainee to support its Landing Gear Machining Department. Selected applicant will set up and operate large and small grinders for producing aircraft parts using part blueprints.
Responsible for the proper set up of the assigned machine using fixtures, angle plates, etc. to complete the operation on the work piece. Will produce micro finishes while grinding internal diameters, outside diameters, and irregular-shaped, difficult-to-hold aircraft components. Will perform machining where the relationship of machined locations must be maintained to exacting tolerance and finish specifications.
Will ensure that all the traceability for the work performed is accurate, complete, and legible. Overtime may be required per business needs. Other duties as assigned.
Selected applicant must possess a minimum of three (3) years operating large internal, cylindrical, and surface grinders.
Requires a broad knowledge of machining practices and procedures and a high degree of skills and technique. This position requires knowledge of machining technology, mechanical principles, and advanced shop mathematics. Must be familiar with statistical process control and total quality management techniques.
Qualified applicant must have good verbal and written communication skills; must read, write, and speak English at a 12th grade level.

Belt Grinder - Ssbo/103
Uses a variety of machines and equipment to remove gating from castings in order to meet tech card requirements and customer specifications.
Objective: Belt grind parts to tech card tolerances with out part mutilation and at acceptable rates to meet department goals.
A. Review tech cards and belt grind parts to required tolerances while applying pre-determined best practices.
B. Work with part engineers, trainers, supervision and other operators to help establish best practices and to reduce manufacturing costs.
C. Performs other departmental and team tasks as directed by supervision.
Objective: To assure compliance with belt grind technique cards and to meet customer specifications.
A.Verifies dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, and similar types of dimensional inspection devices.
B. Provides assistance/training to other operators in the Department as required by the lead or supervisor.
Objective: To accurately report time and quantities against work orders.
A. Uses bar code equipment to perform transactions.
B. Completes entries on Process records accurately and in compliance with quality requirements.
C. Accurately records data for special projects as required.

5.Requires prolonged periods of standing and the ability to continuously or repetitively maneuver objects weighing as much as 80 pounds. Lifting requirements are also a consideration but weights in excess of 35 pounds should be handled using the assistance of other operators and/or appropriate lifting devices.
6.Ability to work in difficult working conditions. These may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, awkward physical positions and other elements for extended periods of time.

Ellwood Crankshaft Group is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines, mechanical shears, rock crushers, homogenizers and other miscellaneous applications. Today, ECG has eight facilities in four different states. We are currently seeking a full-time Grinder for our facility in Joliet, IL. This non-exempt position will require overtime, weekends, rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities.

Grinder Iii-Hand Feed
Set-up, operate hand-feed Cincinnati grinders.
Be able to handle grind, cam-out grind, under cut grind, and TD grind, and all elements of hand feed grind.
Inspects fasteners to verify correct machine set-up and operation by using micrometers, gauges and measuring devices.
Read /understand blueprints
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds.
Be able to stand 8 hours.
1 year of experience.
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
Ability to read blueprint and use measuring instruments.

The Grinder will have responsibility for the setup and operation of miscellaneous computerized numerical control (CNC) and/or manual machines. The primary CNC machine will be the Studer Grinder. The Grinder will also ensure that machines are properly tooled and may be required to make recommendations to modify programs as appropriate.
1.Set-up and operation of miscellaneous CNC and/or manual machines, including Studer Grind.
2.Machine and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
3.Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
4.Participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, and material along with tooling requirements; to ensure parts are machined according to engineering tolerances/specifications.
5.Perform inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of burrs or damaged surfaces.
6.Provide input and recommendations for selecting, installing, and adjusting CNC and manual machine cutting tools to ensure they are consistent with type and size of material being machined.
7.Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
8.Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensure that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.
RequirementsHigh School or GED and a minimum of 2 years of machining experience. Experience using the following is preferred:
Studer grinders. Reads, understands and correctly interprets blueprints, planning and manufacturing specifications. Demonstrated working knowledge of machining and/or testing related mathematical concepts.
Has basic knowledge of inspection requirements and techniques. Rough burrs machined parts. May train, provide guidance, and assist in developing lower skill level team members.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
(Note – must use a lift assist or assistance from other individual(s) when lifting in excess of 50 lbs.)
Must be capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 lbs.
Must have grip strength of at least 50 lbs.

Roll Grinder is responsible for heavy assembly and regrinding of large rolling mill rolls. Duties and working procedures include:
Calibrate test equipment and maintain records.
Perform mechanical repair of roll grinding machines and fixed shop equipment.
Select, balance, and install grinding wheels.
Position rolls in grinding machine with pendant and radio controlled crane.
Rough turn and grind rolls to desired shape and finish.

Centerless Grinder Machinist individual Sets up and operate precision grinding equipment to grind lot parts in accordance with established shop practices. Performs work operations under supervision.

I. Plans and performs a sequence of operations to set up and operate internal, external, surface and centerless grinders to produce parts to close tolerances and a high degree of finish from various metals and alloys where standard operating methods are available.
a. Determines sequence of machining operations as applied to machine being used, selects proper chucking device or fixture and makes necessary set up and adjustments of machine. Mounts and adjusts grinder wheel trusting device and dresses grinder wheel.
II. Mounts and balances new grinder wheels when occasion arises.
III. Uses precision measuring instruments which may include shadograph, air bore gages, air plug gages, surface analyses, dial indicator gages, vernier calipers, and micrometers.
IV. Responsible only for own work.
V. Performs other related duties as required.
