CNC Machinist And Grinder - 2Nd Shift
Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Machinist on 2nd shift. The LA facility has approximately 350 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
Essential Functions: Capability to setup complex parts and operate machine without supervision. Interprets plans, work order, blueprints or drawings to determine the necessary work required, full understanding of GD&T.
Inspects parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using the appropriate measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, air gages and comparators. Finishes all parts with different materials to close tolerance without supervision. Examines surface of work piece for defects before starting work.
Must meet production and quality requirements at all times, always keep work area clean. Ability to modify machining feed and speeds on multiple material types and select tooling, gauges as/if required. Uses measuring tools, air gauges, micrometers and other inspection tools to verify part quality.
Replaces worn tools, inspect parts and adjust tool offsets as needed. Must be a team player and follow all safety rules and regulations. Drives for continuous process improvements Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Minimum 7 years of experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years Grinding experience Relocation is not offered for this role.

Good verbal and written communication skills a must. Familiarity with SPC principles and methods. Ability to produce and inspect critical parts with tight tolerances and finishes, with minimal supervision.
Ability to logically solve problems and to keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
Aerospace experience preferred. 8 plus years experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering. Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming. Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.

Set up and operate cylindrical grinder and to hold close tolerances. Determines operation sequences and programming of parts. Verifies dimensions of ground work piece using measuring instruments. Performs record keeping such as inspection forms and machine maintenance. Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all safety regulations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load workpieces into machines manually or using hoists or cranes.
Write CNC Programs for grinding machines.
Set up, operate, and monitor grinding operations.
Test and adjust machine speeds or actions according to product specifications using gauges and hand tools.
Turn controls to set cutting speeds, feed rates, or table angles for specified operations.
Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
Inspect equipment and materials to identify cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Exercise special care and attention to detail to ensure machine is running correctly.
Work with managers to implement Company's policies and business objectives.
