About this role:
Due to high growth, we are hiring Certified Cardiac Technicians or those with other specialties who have strong cardiac recognition and interpretation skills to join our dynamic organization. Experience as a paramedic or in Kinesiology can be advantageous. Specific Job Responsibilities include:
Review patient's ECG data and related algorithm findings for clinical accuracy and completeness, utilizing iRhythm's Quality Analysis tools
Effectively communicate ECG abnormalities by notifying physicians as required according to physician notification protocol
Perform 100% of the quality assurance behind the final report delivered to the physician, and provide report format modifications and additions as requested
Maintain compliance with job specific proficiency requirements, including CCT certification (RN or Paramedic may qualify)
Continuously develop clinical knowledge, particularly ECG rhythm interpretation skills
Communicate with internal and external customers
You are an experienced, professional cardiac monitor technician interested in working in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
Additionally, you have:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a telemetry/monitor technician, Holter scanner or other specialty requiring ECG interpretation
An Associates degree or two years college course work preferred
Your Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or able to be certified within 90 days of hire; other related certifications or licenses may qualify (i.e. RN or Paramedic)
Intermediate level PC proficiency
Excellent attention to detail

Cardiac Monitor Technician
Performs ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provides appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact patient condition.
Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients cardiac rhythm and vital signs and notifies appropriate nursing staff of any changes according to clinician, provider orders and/or in accordance with departmental protocols.
Interprets patient's cardiac rhythm and documents accordingly in the patient's electronic medical record per departmental protocols.
Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or management.
Uses clear and complete communication with nursing unit personnel when delivering information about changes in cardiac rhythm.
Orients and mentors new staff members and serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both the CMU and nursing units.
Provides report to oncoming shift.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of a formal training program in allied health or a healthcare-related field such as EKG technician, medical assisting, EMT, or similar field preferred.
One year of recent, full time patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare field preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) (preferred).
Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Experience as a Monitor Technician and demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms preferred.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians and the general public.
Must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment under moderate pressure, multi-task with accuracy to keep track of a large number of patients and requires long periods of sitting and watching a computer monitors.
Visual acuity for observing cardiac monitor data.

Cardiac Monitor Technician
Under supervision of the Director, and in collaboration withother health care professionals, ensure continuous monitoring of cardiacrhythms by observing cardiac monitors; maintain all records and reports ofrhythm strips in accordance with the established nursing standards andprocedures.
Account for all telemetry transmitters at the beginning of each shift. Notify Director of any transmitters unaccounted for. Maintain transmitter log, the locations of each transmitter (BioMed, Spacelabs, etc.) each shift.
Assess and provide input to leadership team regarding supply stock levels/equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment. Utilize time and supplies economically and conscientiously.
Assist with orientation/cross-training of new personnel on the unit. Act as a mentor and/or resource person to new or developing employees. Maintain and enhance arrhythmia analysis skills by participation in education activities. Provide input regarding personal or unit educational needs.
Handle and operate cardiac monitors, printers, and other equipment properly and carefully as recommended in user's manual, with the ability to recognize and report wear or malfunction to Biomedical Engineer and Director.
Operate central monitor/work station and accessories in a competent manner. Utilize varied functions and capabilities of central monitor station equipment by successfully completing orientation checklist. Utilize automated processes and clinical information systems appropriately and efficiently. Assist with general clerical duties as needed.
Provide immediate information to nursing personnel of change in cardiac monitor status. Notify charge nurse, and follow established policy, if nurse does not immediately place patient back on monitor.
Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
Completion of Hospital Basic Arrhythmia MonitorTechnician Examination with a score of 80% or greater.
Current CPR (Heartsaver)

Monitors heart rhythm pattern of patients in the hospital to detect abnormal pattern variances, using telemetry equipment: Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances.
Observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm. Informs RN of variances to initiate examination of patient.
Measures length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout, using calipers, and posts information on patient records.
