NorDx at Pen Bay Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Chief Medical Technologist in Portland. The Assistant Chief Medical Technologist will coordinate and supervise all technical and administrative activities in the NorDx/Pen Bay Medical Center clinical laboratory, including monitoring all procedures, quality control/assurance practices and proficiency testing programs in a manner that ensures the accuracy and validity of tests results in a timely fashion while also assuring compliance with the requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies and a high level of service to all NorDx clients. # Position is eligible for#a $5,000 Sign-on Bonus, relocation assistance and temporary housing if needed. # The successful candidate will select, train and schedule employees; monitor and evaluate employee performance; ensure staff completion of all NorDx mandated safety and compliance programs; assist in long-range planning and budget preparation and interact with NorDx staff and clients providing clinical information as appropriate. Knowledge of clinical laboratory functions, practices and procedures acquired through a Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or an equivalent. An in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations and personnel management acquired through 2-3 years of progressive clinical laboratory experience.
Certification as a medical technologist (or equivalent) or as a categorical technologist by a recognized professional organization is required (ASCP, AMT, NRCC). Certification as a specialist (SBB, SH, SM, SI), a clinical laboratory supervisor or director, or a master#s degree in business or healthcare management preferred. Cardiopulmonary PCU (CP PCU) is a 40-bed unit located in the Ginsburg Tower on the 6th floor. CP PCU is a progressive care unit that mainly cares for cardiac and pulmonary patients.
The cardiac diagnoses include pre/post heart catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, ablations, lead revisions, tikosyn and sotalol initiation, rapid atrial fibrillation, ect. The unit also cares for pulmonary hypertension patients, as well as pre and post lung transplants. CP PCU has a 3 to 1 patient to nurse ratio and encompasses an all nursing model.
Our nurses are required to be ACLS/BLS certified. CP PCU believes in strong teamwork, dedication, and professionalism to give our patients the best experience possible. We utilize interdisciplinary rounds with nursing, pharmacy, and case management daily to ensure we are doing everything possible to discharge our patients safely once they are medically cleared.
Our nurses work closely with the physicians as demonstrated by the RN-MD rounding model and our pulmonary hypertension class is taught by our doctors and pulmonary hypertension team. We strive to keep our patients safe and satisfied with the care we provide every day.

Supervises training and technical patient care activities of the electroencephalographic laboratories of the University Health System. Ensures the quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of all EEG/EMU Laboratory services within the University Health System.

Coordinate interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-specific care. Monitor clinical outcomes for the highest level of excellence in clinical care.

Develop and implements operating, financial, and marketing standards for the growth of the Specialty in the location.
Collaborate in the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of clinical staff for the Specialty.
Facilitate training programs for field staff including specialty training and monthly labs.
Assist with the preparation of specialty budget and monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budgetary constraints.
Act as central resource for information on Specialty.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or the equivalent
Minimum of five years experience in cardiopulmonary field
Three years of supervisory experience
Current unrestricted licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) to which assigned
ACLS and CCRN credentialing

What You Will Do
As an Associate with Ministry Health Care, you will have the opportunity to
Provides direct nursing care for cardiac rehab patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Develops a home exercise program, exercise prescription, utilizing AACVPR guidelines, that will safely and effectively guide the patient toward optimal restoration and maintenance of functional capacity.
Assesses patients understanding of the disease, determine the individuals symptom pattern, and identify patient goals for rehabilitation.
Formulates objective assessments of each patients functional activity level and tolerance to activity and documents accordingly daily.
Develops an educational program dealing with the multidisciplinary approach to exercise, dietary modification, smoking cessation, and stress management.
What You Will Need
Certified Advanced Life Support specializing in Advanced Cardio Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. For SJH location, ACLS certification must be obtained within 12 months (1 year) of hire or job transfer date.
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State".
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the state of Wisconsin.
Exercise Physiologist with Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, or a graduate from accredited school of Nursing, or a Respiratory Therapist who graduated from an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy required
