High School Diploma Required
Three years related hospital experience in radiology special procedures or catheter lab.
Persons employed as a cardiovascular technologist must annually complete 15 hours of continuing education or contact hours to remain qualified for employment and to submit verification of having completed such continuing education requirements to their employers or hold a current certification either RCIS or RCES."
The Cardiovascular Technician (CY-Tech) is responsible for serving as support staff during all Cardiovascular procedures with an emphasis on scrubbing, recording and image development.
Position Expectations and
Have the ability to recognize, record and report all dysrhythmias accurately.
Have knowledge of the proper use and function of catheters and guidewires.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot the Intra-aortic Balloon Pump.
Knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique.
Proficiency in all phases of Cardiac Cath procedures with emphasis on scrubbing, recording and image development.
Perform calculations of hemodynamic and physiological test results.
Operate all equipment in the Cath Lab efficiently and accurately.
Prepare Cath images for physician review.
Assist with quality assurance checks on equipment as assigned.
Participate in determining policies and procedures for the Cath Lab.
Maintain orderliness and cleanliness with equipment and environment.
Assist in the evaluation of new products.
Assist in the department's Performance Improvement program.
Be responsible for emergency call.
Minimum one year of experience required.
Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college
or technical school OR Six months to one year related experience
RCIS or RT certificate preferred
Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty hours before, during and or beyond normal work hours in the event of an emergency situation, crisis or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Radiological, Cardiovascular and/or Respiratory care program.
RCVT or equivalent preferred, registry eligible acceptable. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively. Responsible for setting up the patient for cardiac catheterization and monitoring the patient during the procedure.
They may perform in the scrub, assisting the physician during the exam, and monitor positions. They are also responsible for entering patient information into the GEMNET and MACLAB computer systems.

Under the guidance and direction of the physician and or clinical staff, the Cardiovascular Technician performs specialized medical procedures utilizing, monitoring and maintaining medical equipment; and ensures availability and proper cleaning, sterilization, and set up of equipment and supplies required for specific procedures in accordance with established procedures, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitors and documents in Cardiolab during procedures including equipment used, procedures performed, etc.
Scans items in and out of our inventory management system, Q-sight.
Assists physicians with procedural reports using DMS reporting system. Entering specific details according to each procedure and physician preference.
Prepares sterile trays for each procedure and organizes equipment for each procedure.
Performs procedures in scrub positions based on established departmental competencies, standards, policies, and procedures.
Handles emergency situations during high-risk procedures in a competent and professional manner.
Prepares patient prior to procedure including: attach EKG to patient, perform skin prep according to protocol.
Assists EP nurse in the preparing of the patient for monitoring.
Sets up and maintains equipment during specific procedures: Biosense, Stockert, EPT, CardioLab, Bloom Stimulator, Medtronic External Defibrillator, PPM/ICD Programmers, etc
Assists the physician with all aspects of the procedure including implants, ablation, etc.
Assists the EP nurse and physician in supportive measures to restore and/or maintain the wellbeing of the patient during an emergency.
Assists in the removal of procedural sheaths for the patient after the procedure according to protocol.
Assists in inventory control, including maintaining and stocking supplies
Assists Lead EP CVT in maintaining inventory, placing orders to vendors, and maintaining equipment.
Performs procedures consistent with the needs of the patient include age, culture, language, disabilities, etc.
Provides information and instruction to patient, parent, and or primary caregiver at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.)
Maintains and cleans department and departmental equipment.
Clinical experience involving EP/Pacemaker preferred
Eligibility for Cardiovascular registration required; Cardiovascular Registry preferred with CVT
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology required
Licenses / Certifications: RCIS, RCES, or CCT required, BLS certification required

Maintains a wound and device check clinic schedule each week.
Operates sophisticated computerized data acquisition and device interrogation equipment.
Programs implantable cardiac devices to maintain appropriate heart rhythm and therapy, under the direction of a physician or by approved protocol.
Evaluates and interprets heart rhythms in order to recommend and perform adjustments on implantable devices according to standard follow-up recommendations.
Reprograms cardiac devices and defibrillators as appropriate for diagnostics and other procedures.
Maintains a database of all patients with implantable devices.
Answers patient calls and questions regarding rhythm-related concerns.
