Construction Carpenter - role is to install wire shelving, showers doors, mirrors, and bath/kitchen hardware in the home. The Carpenter would be completing punch out list and final touches before the homeowner would move into the home.
Responsible for cutting wire shelving to size to fit in closets
Follow shelving template to pre-drill holes to fasten closet shelves to the wall
- Responsible for install shower door kits and custom shower doors
Responsible for cutting glass to size
Measure and mount mirror(s) to wall ensuring they are level
Fasten and attach hardware to cabinets in Kitchen/Bathroom
Mount towel racks and toilet paper holders to walls
Loads/unloads materials to able to job site for installation
Communicates directly to the customer/builder when necessary
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED
0-5 years' experience in Construction industry, completing remodels or finish work within a home
Proficient in using hand and power tools, tape measure, laser level and laser measuring tools
Professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Able to transport and lift materials up to 50 lbs.

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Participates in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of hospital in good repair. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities.
Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all DNV, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Serves as a member of the Fire Control Team and responds to code. Serves as a member of the Security Team and responds to appropriate codes.
Supports the mission of St. Peter's Hospital through the ability to read and interpret blueprints under the supervision of a project manager and the Facilities Director. Able to draw and produce sketches and shop drawings to scale, accurately estimates cost and amount of time for projects and renovations.
Can instruct and teach facilities employees proper and safe construction equipment use. Has the aptitude and ability to design and construct high quality furniture, cabinetry, and countertops. Is able to perform all of the following trades: construction and finish carpentry, laminate and solid surface countertop production and repair, drywall installation and repair, perfa-taping and texturing, painting, tile setting and repair, masonry-concrete repair, cabinet making and repair, furniture making and repair.
Knowledgeable in flooring installation and removal, plumbing, ceiling installation and removal. Knowledge in mig welding preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Seven years experience in commercial construction required.
Healthcare construction experience preferred. Knowledge of public building and safety codes is required.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED preferred. 2 year education preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.

Coordinates and oversees the activities of the carpentry team. Trains less experienced Carpenters.
Constructs, erects, and repairs wooden structures such as houses, barns, commercial buildings, garages and similar structures; reads blueprints or sketches or works from verbal instructions. Determines sequencing of activities, assembly and erection of structures.
Selects and orders delivery of materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets, and paneling to meet specifications for the project.
Understands local building codes to ensure that structures comply with structural, safety and other regulatory requirements.
Operates hand tools and power tools to saw to size, nail, shim, fit and finish wooden construction.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Carpenter will coordinate scheduled maintenance and perform general carpentry activities such as design, construction, installation, repair and renovation of furnishings, cabinetry, doors, windows, walls, ceilings, vents and covers, insulation, flooring, building additions, panels, glass, containers, crates and related projects using a large variety of machines and tools. The Carpenter will also review and implement work orders; inspect work sites to determine the materials, equipment and estimated cost(s) for projects; maintain a clean and safe work environment. "Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required."
The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions.
The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker.
Specialized training in principles, procedures, practices, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. The commercial construction Carpenter performs miscellaneous, skilled carpentry work for the full range of rough and finished carpentry across all levels of the construction trades at varying tenant improvement and base building construction projects within the Washington, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area while always being focused on safety and quality. Perform a variety of duties to plan, layout, build, reform, and repair wooden and wooden substitute structures and equipment such as scaffolding, sheds, platforms, skids, flooring, retaining forms, work benches, and storage bins. Install such wall and floor covering as acoustical block insulation, asphalt and rubber tile, formica, linoleum and fiberglass.
Install and replace broken glass. Operate woodworking tools such as electrical saws, drills, planners, wood lathe, jointers, and ram set, and assist with operation of shaper. Sharpen own tools.
Perform rough carpentry work on office partitions and buildings, may occasionally construct packing and shipping containers.
