What You Will Be Doing
Operates different types of molding machines in order to produce metal castings for LSI customers.
Checks the shop packet for general and part specific work instructions.
Ensures proper placement of chills in molds.
Assembles flask, pattern and follow board on molding table of machine.
Sifts sand over pattern, using riddle, and fills flask with sand by opening hopper or using shovel.
Packs sand around pattern contours, using ramming tool or pneumatic hammer.
Cuts pouring spout and vents in mold, using sprue cutter and wire. Lifts cope half of flask off drag half and removes pattern.
Other duties as assigned
Inspects machines and other related equipment to ensure correct molds, meeting customer specifications.
Inspects pattern equipment and tools for defects prior to set up on the molding machine.
Does basic preventative maintenance on molding machine prior to set up.
Reports all machine and production issues to the shift supervisor.

Performs all machining functions of production and support equipment in the assigned areas. Work includes cleaning of the molds, tooling, fixtures, and jigs. All work is to be performed in such a manner as to ensure good workmanship with minimum delay.

Clean and maintain production tools and molds.
Build components for new tools, existing tools and molds through the use of tool room equipment, using designs created by the engineering department. Read and interpret plans from paper drawings or computer files.
Using toolmakers scope, measures, examines, diagnoses and trouble-shoots existing molds to make improvements or corrections repairs.

Position Core Role:
Plastics injection molding design engineering associate responsible for design of injection mold tooling, manufacturing support and overall injection project support, as well as support of instrument panel tooling and process for IMGL (in mold grain lamination) forming.

Mold & Machine Technician
With guidance and direction from the Process & Maintenance Engineer the Mold & Machine Technician will complete changeovers, perform maintenance, and complete repairs on all injection molding machinery, molds and related auxiliary and automation equipment used in the injection molding and assembly operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete changeovers as per schedule in a safe, timely and professional manner.
Ensure proper use of crane, HiLo, and mold carts
Ensure proper connections of electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems to the mold.
Maintain and repair all machinery, molds, and related equipment in a timely manner while upholding the highest quality standards of work.
Document and report status of all maintenance and repair work performed on the machinery and equipment.
Work with suppliers as needed to troubleshoot and maintain machinery.
Assist in maintaining correct spare parts inventory levels.
Complete any tasks or other duties as assigned by the Process & Maintenance Engineer or Production Manager.
The individual must have at least 3 years' experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of injection molding machines and all other related auxiliary equipment, including material handling systems, air compressors, chillers, towers, conveyors, fork lifts, hot stamp machines, and grinders.
Must be competent with PLC's and, be able to read and work from all machine electrical schematics, have a thorough knowledge of hydraulics, hydraulic schematics and servo control valves including ISO cleanliness levels.
A Journeymen's Certification is preferred, but not required.
The position requires strong organizational, excellent communication skills, and strong computer skills are a plus.
