Packaging Machine Operator Intern
Packaging Room Intern is a developmental position, designed to complement a two year degree in areas such as electrical or mechanical engineering, maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical, or related fields, by incorporating critical hands on experience as a machine operator into the education and applied training for classroom concepts and technical competencies. This program provides training and job experience for students with demonstrated classroom success, and will include both classroom and floor training. The first phase of the program will focus on understanding the manufacturing environment and supporting a Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) in daily job responsibilities. After demonstrated learning by the intern, the responsibilities and skill development will expand to include additional packaging room tasks and functions (dependent on candidate and duration of internship).
Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Packaging Room Intern with Frito-Lay is required to perform the following essential functions during the course of a normal workday:
Attend necessary classroom and floor training for good manufacturing practices, machine operation, and safety.
Support PMOs in the following job responsibilities:
Safeguard product prior to packaging to maintain cleanliness and quality standards.
Change and splice new film rolls (lift up to 50 lbs) for packaging.
Obtain rolls of film from warehouse and transport to casing area.
Identify and clear product or box jams and faults.
Check that bag is properly coded, dated and sealed with a minimum amount of wasted product and supplies.
Support SKU and or product changeovers, including inspecting conveyors and scales.
Keep machines and designated work area clean and safe.
Clean and sanitize lines during changeovers from one product to another.
Set-up, calibration, and operation of packaging machines with high efficiency and accuracy.
Perform basic preventative maintenance on packaging machines, to include cleaning and changing knives/blades, pull-belts, tape machines, and rollers.
Troubleshoot packing machines and product lines to maintain performance standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be currently enrolled in a qualifying degree program at a participating College or school, or have recently graduated from such a program.
Preferred completion of at least 1 semester in approved educational program.
1 year commitment to Frito-Lay internship required.
Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

Monitor product flow from strippers and silos to packaging machines. Clear product jams at stripper and in turners, chimneys and scales. Add cartons and change packaging film. Packaging Machine Operator
Job Summary: The Packaging Machine Coordinatoris responsible to ensure that the quality, quantity, and efficiency of packagedgoods conforms to the Company's standards. Responsible to be able to read andcomprehend documents such as manuals and operational instructions to work ondifferent types of packaging machines, primarily Vertical-Form-Fill-and-Seal (brands-Hayssen, Matrix, and TNA) as well as Premade Horizontal Pouch (brands- Robertsand Toyo). Operate multiple linessimultaneously.
Operate and oversee multiple PackagingMachine lines simultaneously, regularly rotating through each line to maintain highlevel of operation on each.
Perform startup checks at the beginningof each shift.
Perform machine setup before each shiftand perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally duringproduction logging results electronically by hour against set efficiencytargets.
Perform routine time-based tests toensure machines are producing quality products (i.e. seal, visual, weight,etc.).
Perform front line preventativemaintenance.
Monitor and perform routine adjustmentsand calibrations on each machine (packaging machine, scales).
Monitor all product to be packaged toensure best quality standards are being met against provided work instructions.
Oversee efficient and safe operation ofall equipment on the line.
Review appropriate production schedulesfor the line to ensure correct equipment setups have been made and appropriatepackaging material are present for efficient productivity
Ensure all materials are properlycounted, weighed, and labelled with correct label information.
Ensure that all partial pallets, bags,containers, are available and accessible as well as having proper documentationsuch as part number, weights, and expiration dates.
Ensure that all material and packagingare correct and meet all the customer and Company specifications againstprovided work instructions.
Ensure adequate housekeeping in thework area throughout the day to include maintaining and cleaning machine(s)before and after each shift.
High School Diploma orGED required
The ability tocommunicate and take directions effectively and efficiently in the Englishlanguage, both verbal and written.
1-year of packagingoperator experience required.
Must have thecapability to stand while at work station(s) and capable of climbing stairs.
Proven problem-solving skills with a mechanical understanding ofmachinery.
Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes andprocedures.
Experience with GMP's,HACCP, and Food Safety requirements preferred.
Vertical Form and Fill (Hayssen, Matrix, TNA) and Pouch machine highlypreferred.
