Position Title Aircraft Servicer

Candidate performs various duties in support of U.S. Navy flight line aircraft maintenance operations at NAS Norfolk, VA. VAW-120. Duties include, but are not limited to: fueling; de-fueling; engine oil servicing; direct incoming and outgoing aircraft near hangar area to assist pilots maneuvering of the aircraft on ground, using hand or light signals; pre-flight, post-flight, daily/turnaround, special and conditional inspections on aircraft; secures aircraft in parking position with chocks, tie down chains and grounding wires; check for fuel contamination by draining samples from low point drains; operate ground support equipment such as electrical power supply, tow tractor, light cart, and engine starting unit; clean exterior or interior of aircraft, using portable platform ladders, brushes, rags, water hoses, and vacuums interior floors of aircraft.

Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
Minimum of one (1) year actual and recent experience of organizational level aircraft maintenance, and flight line maintenance is recommended. Previous experience on (E-2C/E-2D/C-2A) aircraft desired.
Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is preferred.
Shift work and travel, to include work on Naval ships, is required.
Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks. There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license (or North Carolina driver’s license if North Carolina resident) and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
Work is performed primarily outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise, exhaust fumes, and various types of chemicals.
Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification System which includes a 7 year background check and obtain a Security Clearance for Public Trust.

Provides line services in support of scheduled flight operations. These services include inspection, servicing, cleaning, launching and recovery of aircraft. Will be required to operate self propelled ground equipment during daily routine.
Services are primarily performed outside. Must complete training program and be certified in writing as a plane captain.
Required to re-qualify annually. May be required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties. Limited use of hand tools which normally include screwdrivers, flashlights and tools necessary to assist with engine rinses and aircraft washes.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Launch and recover aircraft in accordance with specific guidelines during day and night hours. Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with published criteria.
Perform fueling operations using gravity fill and closed circuit refueling methods. Service engine oil and hydraulic systems as required.
Act as a member of an aircraft moving crew when directed.
Perform aircraft washing and lubrication when assigned.
Act as a member of the engine rinse team when directed.
Be familiar with and operate portable fire fighting equipment.
Use provided safety equipment when working with hazardous materials.
Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.
Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
Responsible for the adhering to the Company Tool Control Program.
Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities
and job assignment.
Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
May be required to perform simple computer input functions.
Pursuant to the specific provisions of the CBA, at the discretion of management, may be requested to perform the duties of Lead. When assigned to outlying fields:
Maintain a communications link with line supervisory personnel and the on-site crash crew. May be required to remove and reinstall aircraft doors for specific outlying field operations. Provide gravity and hot fueling services at outlying fields when assigned. Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification.

completion of Aviation School or one (1) year experience with OJT certification on selected tasks.

Under direct supervision, perform work pertaining to disconnecting, reconnecting, removing, installing and testing single-phase and three-phase kilowatt-hour and demand meters up to 260 volts, work delinquent accounts, read meters, investigate irregular readings, energy diversion, and inactive usage, contact customers, test, inspect, maintain, service, pack and transport measurement equipment and other equipment as assigned, and perform associated duties. . Disconnect and reconnect electrical service to customer, as directed, by removal or installation of single and three-phase kilowatt-hour meters or combination demand meters not to exceed 260 volts, for service orders, credit action, inactive usage, or as otherwise directed. Install, remove, connect, and disconnect all self-contained single-phase and three phase meters and services and repair such installations.
Remove, install, change out or test single and three-phase kilowatt-hour or demand meters to provide or maintain service to the customer. Assist in the investigation of energy diversion. Appear in court hearings as needed.
Initiate investigation orders relating to customer service and bill information. Prepare service applications and discontinuance orders in field as necessary. Read billing meters as may be assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
Mechanical Systems Servicer
Requires knowledge of repair and overhaul methods as applied to heavy machinery, together with knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and servo-systems. Work from drawings and schematic diagrams, read technical material of some complexity, and use mathematics through trigonometry. Use precision measuring instruments and equipment to check machines and equipment for accuracy. Requires 2-3 years of experience.
Under direction of supervisor, follow instructions and drawings to determine material requirements, plan sequence of operations, obtain required support services and tools and equipment to carry out assignments. Check to assure equipment and supplies are available when required.
Perform equipment installations, maintenance and repair work and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required.
Provide assistance to others on projects that involve the care, use and maintenance of tools and equipment while maintaining safe working practices.
Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description. Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills.
