Job Title: Master Caster Furnace Operator
Job Type: Hourly
To efficiently and safely operate the Master Caster and Air Master Melt Furnaces to consistently produce alloys to meet PCC's metallurgical specifications. To produce vacuum ingots and castings.
Objective: to check equipment, and assure accurate proportions of each element in alloys produced in compliance with all Process Control Procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Checks vacuum level, power supplies, liners and other furnace systems.
B. Prepares metal materials for air master melt and master caster process to meet element proportions per metallurgist schedule.
C. Builds Master Heat recipes using an alloy blending system.
D. Weighs materials to be melted (Revert and Virgin).
E. Uses and updates Electronic Heat Log and Furnace Clocks.
F. Loads and Fires Shells in Burnouts in accordance with Requirements (monitors all shell temps throughout cycle).
G. Prepare all Charges and Recharges for furnace loading (includes welding of hooks for overhead lifting).
Marginal Job Function:
A. Notifies appropriate personnel of low raw materials levels as needed.
B. Orders Raw materials (Revert, Alloy and Elements) as needed for production.
Objective: to operate both the Master Caster and Air Master Melt furnaces in order to complete melting and pouring of ingots and castings.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Maintains and monitors vacuum levels throughout melts according to PCC specifications.
B. Charges furnace by adding virgin or revert materials as required.
C. Takes sample of molten metal for lab analysis; makes calculations and adjusts the composition when out of ranges (Use an Alloy Blending System).
D. Approves start of pouring process when heat composition meets specifications.
E. Enter Pour Programs for each Workorder to be poured on Master Heat.
F. Operates the Master Caster furnace to pour alloy ingots and large vacuum castings; operates hydraulic systems, doors, cranes and hoists.
G. Assembles air casting bottom pour ladles and trigger mechanisms.
H. Operates Air Master Melt furnace to pour alloy ingots and large castings; operate hydraulic systems, large overhead cranes and bottom pour ladles.
I. Slag,DeOx, and prepares air master Melt heats in a variety of alloys for pouring into ingots and castings.
J. Pours test bar material to the casting specifications for each heat.
K. Rebuilds Master Caster bottom pour ladle systems. This includes Backpacks, Stopper Rods, Nozzles, and Hosts.
F. Weighs, marks, and documents all heats correctly throughout the master melt process.
Objective: to maintain air master melt and master caster power supply and furnace systems.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Maintains and monitors condition of melting coils, furnace linings, pouring ladles and equipment.
B. Cleans furnace of soot deposits.
C. Rebuilds vacuum ladles and backpack actuators.
D. Leak checks and repairs minor or major vacuum leaks.
E. Changes oil in diffusion and other pumps.
F. Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical failures on furnace systems.
G. Rebuilds Burnout Furnaces as needed.
H. Works with maintenance to perform preventative maintenance and repair the furnaces as needed.
4.Completes accurate logs, production reports and records.
5.Provides work direction, training, and working supervision as assigned.
6.Meets all production and quality standards.
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Trim operators support the Die Cast Operators in the production of aluminum die cast parts ranging in weight from several ounces to over 30 pounds. Trim Operators will assist with machine set-ups which include removing and installing dies and related machine parts. This is the die cast training step in the progression. This is the second level position in a progression step to becoming a Die Cast Operator.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports die cast operator in the production of good quality parts to meet standards.
Must be capable of operating hydraulic trim press, keep the cast conveyor unloaded and to prepare castings for shipment and/or secondary operations.
Able to change out trim dies and set-up per the set-up sheets.
Manually remove gates and runners as defined in work instructions and inspect as required to assure product quality.
Operate trim presses to remove excess metal as defined in work instructions, properly inspect as required to assure product quality and identify and tag parts per instruction sheets.
Assist the die caster in die changes.
As position demands—stand, bend and/or twist a minimum of 8 hours per day.

The Shift Manager Operations - Steel Producing position has overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Steel Producing BOF or Caster facility. The Shift Manager Operations – Steel Producing shall be self-directed, customer focused, flexible and willing to work in a team environment, with a most critical focus on providing the tools, training, and support for a safe work environment. He or she shall be responsible for directing some maintenance activities to support a reliable operation. Ensuring product quality is an essential requirement of this job. Additional responsibilities include trouble shooting, supporting continuous improvement activities, working with outside contractors/vendors, and communicating key performance measures to his/her Supervisor.
This position strives to improve reliability across Steel Producing in an effort to decrease cost, improve production, and help meet customer needs. In addition to the functions of the job noted in the "Responsibilities & Accountabilities" shown above, this job is also includes reporting to Management the progress and performance of the operation during their shift.

Two years of operations supervisory experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a union facility or a candidate without supervisory experience who has an interest in pursuing a career in a manufacturing environment and has at least 1 year leadership experience. Familiar with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Five (5) years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in another BOF, Caster or steel plant operation, with Three (3) years in a supervisory role in operations.

Supports the manufacturing process by performing job duties in a safe and efficient manner to work with standard products and prefabricated components to build subassemblies, wire, complete final assemblies, electrically test standard products, and clean and package to allow our team to meet scheduled demands while providing high quality products to our customers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Participates in a one-piece-flow assembly operation to produce products requiring attention to details and focus on work duties.
Prepares components and assembles product following diagrams with emphasis on quality.
Assembles products according to blueprints and sequence sheets by identifying production needs, pulling materials, etc.
Bolts, clips, screws, cements, braze, or otherwise fastens parts together by hand, or using handtools or portable power tools.
Inserts and tightens setscrews to secure components to housing.
Cleans and finishes assembly products using approved cleaners/chemicals and tools according to PSS book and refers to MSDS to insure safe handling and proper PPE equipment is utilized.
Inspects product to verify that optional/custom equipment changes have been made according to customer order.
Reads PSS/blueprints to determine position of unit and component parts.
Utilizes SAP system shared plant-wide to accomplish production goals.
Tests assembled component to insure that quality and workmanship meets standards before moving piece to next stage of production.
Tests assembled units, using proper equipment such as recorders, meters, temp probes, RPM testers, etc., according to specifications to insure quality.
Completes quality inspection process during sub-assembly and at key points at designated and completes appropriate internal control documents.
Utilizes Electric Static Discharge PPE equipment when needed to insure safety.
Inspects assembly components for leaks by connecting gas/water/air and performing specified process and listen for or observe results.
Order and retrieve supplies/materials such as cardboard, bags, warehouse items, etc., using paper and SAP documents.
Work in an assembly area that requires adjustments to work process based on identifying product, customer, etc., to determine customized assembly needs.
Assembles and braze components throughout assembly process.
Assembles components, tests, cleans, boxes/packs (foam), label, load to pallet, and designates readiness to move to warehouse.
Troubleshoots work-related problems by applying knowledge and experience toward resolution and taking appropriate steps for assistance.
Calibrates circuit boards as designated by PSS in conjunction with referencing product specifications on-line.
Enters product related data into computer system to track component serial numbers, scan bar codes, production rates (percent good), track physical location, etc.
Reads electrical wiring diagrams to accomplish accurate assembly and high quality results.
Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Evacuates and charges unit/compressors by pumping gases as specified by documented specifications.
Perform paint touch-up when needed to maintain quality and customer satisfaction.
Adjusts assembly process to obtain specified clearances, allowances, etc., and uses gauges, test instruments, and hand tools to accomplish job specifications.
Positions production pieces using hoist, and bolts stationary parts in place, using impact wrench and hand tools.
Works with 120-220V in order to test equipment and participate in related safety/quality training and certification.
Fastens lift chain around components and operates controls of hoists, lifts, etc., to navigate and move production pieces as needed.
Moves assembly to storage area using electric crane or caster based carts, etc.
Lays out and marks reference points onto components, using template, rule, square, compass, scale, etc.
Removes burrs and rough spots from parts with hand file and portable pneumatic grinder.
Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.
Inserts shims and turns setscrews to set clearance between parts, and verifies clearance, using scale and fixed gauges.
Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement by following job guidelines and drawings.
Joins coils, plates, hairsprings, and other parts, connects and solders wires, using hand tools, tweezers, and soldering iron.
Tends assembly-related machines, such as riveting machine, porta-power, etc. to perform force fitting or fastening operations on assembly line.
Operates machines in other areas of production throughout training process, such as punch press, form roll and drill press, etc.
Completes documents such as Final Inspection Sheets, Total Quality Control sheets, etc., as determined by process guidelines.
Holds and maintains fork lift certification when asked to do so.
Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures

High School Diploma/GED
One to three years experience in manufacturing, construction maintenance or industrial setting.
Previous experience with multiple component manufacturing production assembly is preferred.
Ability to frequently lift items up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally lift greater than 50 pounds with assistance of a hoist, lift, etc., to safely position, move, and stack, production items.
Ability to maneuvers assembly components by hand in a repetitive manner conducive to efficiency, job specifications, safety, and quality goals.
Ability to frequently stand, bend, kneel, stretch, reach, lift, sit repetitively to accomplish assembly production goals using eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity while intermittently being exposed to noise, fumes, dust and dirt during assembly of products.
Ability to recognize color codes (wiring) throughout assembly processes to insure that wiring and other coded procedures such as refrigeration wiring, meet safety/quality guidelines.
Computer Experience: Ability to maintain basic knowledge of SAP and Windows Operating System.
Minimum assessment on ACT WorkKeys of Observation Level 4 and Locating Information Level 4 will be preferred.
