Primary Purpose of Position:
Employee is responsible for banding, racking, and moving coils and transporting them to storage. Employee must be able to operate the controls at the coiler table. Employee is responsible for relieving at the wheel; including monitoring quality, controlling the flow of molten metal from the furnace to the wheel where it cools and is processed.
Essential Functions and
Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
Feed and band coils; take coils off coiler and band.
Monitor degasser for proper working condition, clean every 15 minutes.
Assure Chlorine and Argon tanks are filled to the proper level. Replace tanks when empty.
Check/monitor slab/strip for cracks, blisters, oxides, or other visible damage/defects.
Make sure that all dross in aluminum is taken out by skimming.
Check speed and rotation of degasser shaft; allow metal to run through degasser.
Open furnace and allow molten aluminum to exit through tap hole.
Control rate of metal to fill small tilt furnaces; skim/scrape tilt furnaces.
Monitor metal as it enters the wheel and cools; clean and examine belt and wheel.
Complete wheel/belt sheet including belt condition, spray/sand belt/wheel, and temperature.
Any other tasks as assigned by management including; assisting management in the training of new employees.
Regular, consistent and on-time attendance is required.
Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.
Required to work assigned schedule or 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, Monday through Sunday, working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.

The Casting Operator is tasked with assisting the Production Supervisor with achieving all established safety, environmental, quality, production and financial goals on a facility-wide basis. Individual should be well rounded and able to perform many of the different tasks associated with running the facility as a Casting Operator, Baghouse Operator, Battery Breaker, Aqua Refining Operator, and/or shipping and receiving functions.

Essential Job Responsibilities and Operating Procedures: Operator is required to cork the mold with a spray gun to specification.
Operator is to monitor all machine functions and controls to determine if the grid is being cast properly. Operator must maintain level lead pot by adding lead pigs into pot as needed. Hourly SPC data entries must be made to insure manufactured grids are in specification.
Operator must maintain grid-casting machine in good working order and have the ability to repair machine as needed. Operator must keep the lead pot drossed and free of accumulated lead build up. Operator must Etch-Test the first positive grid after a cork job with a solution of glacial acid and hydrogen peroxide to check for defects in the grid. All paperwork and trace ability information must be filled out in an accurate and timely manner.
Must be able to understand and apply all work instructions.
Must be able to work overtime as needed to meet production schedule.
Must be able to work successfully in team environment, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and all plant personnel, regardless of level.
Perform other work as assigned by supervisor or manager. Assist other member of the crew as required.

Operate, maintain, program and troubleshoot the robot casting processor. Perform all tasks with safety and quality in mind and in accordance with established procedures and process instructions. Take necessary action to minimize delay time and maximize production.

Position is responsible for executing both Quality and Technical assessments at Supplier locations to determine capability as well as supports Supplier source selection as the "Voice of Quality." Position will drive supplier process and systemic quality improvements using SPC, Lean and Six Sigma tools to prevent quality non-conformances. This position requires up to 70% travel
Position is responsible for effective execution of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) disciplines for responsible Suppliers. Individual will be required to work with Suppliers, Procurement, Component Engineering, Plant Quality and Operations to establish strategic and comprehensive AQP activities which are aligned to the business and meet customer expectations.
As subject matter expert, position will be involved in resolving capacity constraint at supplier site.
Conducts Quality, Technical and EHS system assessments, in support of new sourcing, to determine if a supplier's quality systems, technical competency and environmental policies meet IR's expectations.
Leads initial Supplier orientation, provides on-boarding training as required.
Active participant of Sourcing Council and Commodity teams – providing the quality detail required to support source selection and rationalization.
Provides Supplier with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development, PFMEA, Measurement Systems, Control Plans and Error Proofing.
Leads AQP reviews with Suppliers which include Design Specification, Pass Thru identification, Safe Launch Control, Launch Readiness and Run @ Rate.
Drives on-time PPAP and Flawless Launch for responsible components.
Drives process and systemic quality improvements, at assigned supplier sites, through the use of quality tools (SIPP, SPC, Lean, Six Sigma) and validates improvements through defined measurables to reduce quality non-conformances "SCAR".
Continually monitors assigned suppliers "SCAR" status and works with suppliers and plant SQE to minimize quality impact to our Operations and end Customer.
Acts as a quality subject matter expert, working in conjunction with Plant SQE and Suppliers in 8D problem solving - leading cross-functional teams on major issues resolution at Supplier locations.
Performs advanced analysis (Commodity, Quality Systems, DPPM) to determine trends along with proposed actions to drive performance improvement.
Prepares, distributes and communicates periodic Supplier performance status and risk assessments to regional leadership as required.
Works to actively deploy IR's defined Supplier Development Procedures, Processes and work instructions within the region. May lead process and procedures review along with continuous improvement actions.
Technical degree in engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
Active knowledge about the casting manufacturing processes (iron & aluminum) and machining.
3-5 years plant manufacturing experience in foundry (iron castings, aluminum castings, …)
3-5 years' experience using quality tools/methodologies(PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC, auditing)
Six Sigma Green Belt certified – Black Belt preferred
Knowledge of Industry specific quality registration (ISO/TS16949)
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the company
Ability to work cross-functionally
