Casting / Fab Supplier Quality Engineer
Caterpillar's Surface Mining and Technology is currently seeking a Casting/Fab Supplier Quality Engineer for its Decatur, IL facility. In this role you will be fundamentally managing supply network related activities focused on in-coming supplier quality responding to the daily quality issues found in the manufacturing facility. A sense of urgency is vital. Ensure zero defect material and services flow for the facility from source to dock and additional required points. The objective is to ensure manufacturing operations can continue without a detrimental impact caused by a supplier quality issue. From the initial concern the SNQE will confirm the problem and determine a short-term action plan with the facility management and the supplier. The objective being to ensure the manufacturing operations can continue operations without a detrimental impact to the process from a quality perspective. In conclusion the job manages the Corrective Action Process on Supplier Related Quality Issues. Deliver Global Leverage with Local Service Excellence.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Accountable for operating and monitoring External supply base, to meet the defined quality targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers as the Relationship Manager for Decatur, and resolving facility specific supplier quality issues.
From the initial concern, the Supply Quality Engineer will identify, contain and ultimately eliminate the defect.
Skills that will be required include Root-Cause-Corrective-Action Analysis (RCCA), 8D, rework and containment plans, and strong communication and collaboration with suppliers.
Using 'both facility based and global supply network' reporting systems (QSI, ISIR's, QCIR's, MRDR's, POU documentation) this position will communicate supplier corrective action details to ensure that the customer is totally confident in Containment and Final Corrective Action Plans.
Responsible for maintaining accountability with the suppliers to establish containment plans related to quality discrepancies. Will ensure the supplier is developing corrective action plans to enable operations to continue with minimum disruption.
5 year in engineering or manufacturing with experiences related to manufacturing processes used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar Products.
Previous Foundry and Fabrication experience
Top Candidates will also have:
Bachelor's degree- preferably in engineering
Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures is required.
Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside of Caterpillar.

Spring 2019 Tnt/Tbs Casting Intern
Duties: This internship is based in the TNT/TBS offices located in Burbank, CA.
The selected Intern will spend 12 weeks working with the Casting department. Although the Intern will spend the majority of their time in Casting, the Intern will have exposure to Development, Production, Post Production, Business Affairs, Legal, Finance, and Public Relations on an ad hoc basis. Past interns have sat in on meetings, have worked on various projects, attend professional development workshops/classes, as well as assist with basic day-to-day administrative needs (including, but not limited to, basic data entry, copying, etc., and other duties as need and as required). Interns should be open to any project requested. By the end of the 12 weeks, the Intern will have had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with all aspects of television and gain a broader understanding of the Industry within a very busy television network.
We are anticipating a very busy and exciting season, with pilots, limited series and straight-to-series orders starting alongside our preexisting slate of programming. In addition to keeping track of all of our internal projects, pilot season is a unique time when we have to very closely monitor projects at other studios and networks because information and actor availability changes so quickly!
Our department covers both TNT and TBS so we have the unique privilege of working on comedy and drama projects simultaneously. Creative thinking, knowledge of actors and a passion for film and television is a plus!
In order to facilitate the learning experience, the following qualifications are preferred:
- \tShould be able to commit to 12 weeks (January 28 - April 19) of the internship and be able to work at least 2 full 8-hour days per week (the 8 hours within the day are flexible; for example, 9-5 or 11-7). Although it is preferred that the candidate should be pursuing a degree in Film/Television or related field, it is not required.
- \tShould be graduate students or rising juniors or seniors pursuing an undergraduate degree and must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship.
- \tShould be self-motivated, have the ability to work in a team environment and multi-task, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in an environment with short deadlines and quick turnaround projects.
- \tShould also have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
